Matchup | Preview

Still, both teams are likely to factor in the playoff race as the season moves along. MLB Network will have coverage of this matchup.

The White Sox have been in control most of the season in the AL Central, but they have both the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers right on their heels. The White Sox are 26-18 on the road this year. Chicago has been successful in 2012 because many of their players who were big disappointments in 2011 have had a major bounce back campaign in 2012.

Adam Dunn leads the team with 28 homers and 65 RBI’s. Alex Rios is batting .319 a year after struggling to stay above .200. Paul Konerko is the steady rock in the middle of the order for this team. Jose Quintana has been a surprising rookie pitcher for the White Sox. Quintana is 4-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 2012.  [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Boston just placed David Ortiz on the disabled list yesterday. It’s tough luck for a team that seemed to finally be getting healthy. Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford just came back, but losing their top hitter so far this year will definitely hurt. Boston’s offense has been remarkably good this year considering how many key players they have missed for much of the season.

Adrian Gonzalez has heated up in a big way over the past month, and that has to encouraging for Red Sox fans. Clay Buchholz started the season pitching terribly, but he has slowly improved as the year has moved along. Buchholz has benefited from some amazing run support this year. He is 8-3 despite having a poor 5.53 ERA.

Buchholz is pitching better and Quintana has been solid this year.

This number is set awfully high. I see several runs being scored by two solid offenses, but 10.5 is just too high.
