Lester is considered the Boston Red Sox Ace, but he certainly hasn’t pitched like it so far this season. Lester is 5-8 with a 5.46 ERA this season. He has been downright awful of late. If Boston is going to make a run, they really need him to turn it around. The Red Sox offense had to be glad to see Carl Crawford smash a long homer last night. Adrian Gonzalez is red hot right now, and Dustin Pedroia seems to be healthy once again.
The Yankees lead the majors in home runs. Everyone on this roster can hit home runs in bunches it seems. Granderson leads the team with 28 long balls. Mark Teixeira had a poor first half of the season, but he is on fire right now. He leads the team with 69 RBI’s. Robinson Cano has a .320 average and Derek Jeter a .311 average so far this year. The Yankees lineup is about as deep as any lineup in baseball. Sabathia is 10-3 with a 3.30 ERA. He has been at his best of late. Three of his last four starts have been brilliant.
Lester has been getting bombed, and the Yankees have hit him in the past. The total here seems to be set too low for two teams with strong offenses. Look for a high scoring game.
