Boston
The last couple of weeks looks like it will encapsulize what this year’s team is going to be all about. I know some think there is another level they will approach but I just don’t see it and they are in danger of losing touch with the Blue Jays.
Everything is just mediocre with this team right now, other than their ability to brawl with the Rays.

The Sox dug the promising de la Rosa out of the farm system and so far the results have been mixed.
In one home start he dominated with 7 shutout innings, in another road start he was knocked around pretty good giving up 4 runs, including 2 homers in just 5 innings. The best thing is that in both starts he has kept his walks low, giving the team a chance.

With a season that might be sliding off the rails it looks like he will continue to get one as well.
Baltimore
In a lighter than expected AL East the Orioles are hanging out in second place tied with the Yankees.
They are only a game over .500 at the moment and the preseason concerns that this team does not have enough pitching to contend have borne out. Offensively they have been good but not as strong as last season.
Nelson Cruz has been an awesome pickup but Chris Davis and Manny Machado are not having good seasons.
Chen has a 6-2 record but his numbers don’t support that kind of success. For the big thing is that he gives up way too many hits, 81 in just 69 innings.
One of the reasons for his success is that he leads the staff and is 9th in the Majors in run support at 5.50. As long as the Orioles keep slugging in support Chen is a decent betting option even though he does not inspire much confidence.
Last night’s game the offenses took the night off but I am expecting the opposite in this one. Neither pitcher is all that dominating and there should be a lot of balls in play and runs on the board.
Look for this one to clear the total by the 6 inning mark so you don’t have to sweat it out.
