MLB Betting Previews – Tuesday, Sept.18 Parlay

The MLB regular season enters the third week of September and the entire playoff picture still remains up in the air with heated races in both the American and National League.

After carefully analyzing all the stats and betting trends for the pitching matchups on Tuesday’s slate of games, we have uncovered a couple of games that set-up as the perfect two-team parlay.

Game 1: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Money Line: Milwaukee – 115 Pittsburgh +105
Total Line: 7.5

The Brewers will open this three-game series with Yovani Gallardo on the mound. The right-hander is 15-8 this season with an ERA of 3.72. Since coming to the Brewers he is a perfect 7-0 with a 2.98 ERA in nine starts. Gallardo is 8-2 against the Pirates with a 2.80 ERA.

The Pirates will turn to AJ Burnett to try and grab the early edge in this series. The right-hander is winless in his last five starts but has only given-up 14 earned runs during that span.

Overall, he is 15-7 in 27 previous starts with a 3.66 ERA. Burnett is 2-3 against the Brewers with an ERA of 5.23.

Milwaukee is a stellar 12-1 in Gallardo’s last 13 starts against the Pirates and 4-1 in his last five starts in Pittsburgh. Overall, the Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 trips there.

Both teams desperately need to string together some victories to stay in the wildcard chase, but Game 1 of this series goes to Milwaukee.  [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Game 2: Oakland Athletics vs. Detroit Tigers

AJ Griffin is slated to get the start for Oakland in this series opener. The right-hander is a perfect 6-0 in 11 previous starts and sporting an overall ERA of 1.94.

He has allowed a total of two earned runs in his last four starts and pitched eight scoreless innings his last time out in a win against the Angels.

Detroit is planning to go with Max Scherzer has its starter for Game 1 of this series. The right-hander is 16-6 on the year with an overall ERA of 3.77 including an impressive 10-1 record in his last 14 starts with a 2.53 ERA. During this stretch, he has posted 113 strikeouts.

Scherzer is 2-1 against Oakland with a 3.71 ERA.

The A’s are 5-1 in the first game of their last six series and 10-1 in their last 11 games against the AL Central. The Tigers are 2-5 in Game 1 of their last seven series and 2-6 in their last eight games against the AL West.

While this pitching matchup should make for a strong play on the under on the total line, stick with Oakland to grind-out the win to lock-up the back-end of this parlay.
