Tuesday MLB Betting Parlay – Braves vs. Phillies, Angels vs. Athletics

MLB Betting Previews- Thursday, August 7 Parlay

The MLB divisional and wildcard races continue to heat-up as we hit the dog days of summer with each of the contending teams in the Majors jockeying for position for a potential spot in the postseason.

After carefully analyzing all the pitching matchups for Tuesday’s slate of games, we have uncovered a two-team parlay that should be able to get your week off to a profitable start.

Game 1: Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Money Line: Atlanta +115 Philadelphia -125
Total Line: 7

Matchup | Preview

Atlanta will send Mike Minor to the mound for Game 2 of this series. The left-hander is 6-7 on the year with a 5.01 ERA but he has not given-up more than four earned runs in any of his last 10 starts. In his last outing against the Phillies, he allowed just one earned run on four hits in eight innings of work. Minor is now 1-1 against Philadelphia with a 3.09 ERA.

Cole Hamels is slated to get the start for the Phillies on Tuesday night. The left-hander has been the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal season with a record of 11-6 and an ERA of 3.34. He has been hurt by a lack of run support in many of his recent outings with just one win in his last seven starts. Hamels is 11-7 against the Braves with a 3.75 ERA.

The Braves are 9-4 in Game 2 of their last 13 series when Minor gets the start and 21-6 in their last 27 games against the NL East. The Phillies are 7-20 in their last 27 games in the division and 2-8 in Game 2 of their last 10 series with Hamels on the mound. Atlanta has won the last six meetings heading into Monday’s Game 1 and continues its recent success over a division rival with the win on Tuesday night to lock-up the front-end of this parlay. Game 2: Los Angeles Angels vs. Oakland Athletics
Money Line: Los Angeles +120 Oakland -135
Run Line: 8

Matchup | Preview

Los Angeles will try and close the gap in with Oakland in the wildcard race with CJ Wilson on the mound for Tuesday night’s contest. The left-hander is 9-7 this season with a 3.27 ERA in 23 previous starts. He has hit a dry patch with four losses in his last seven starts and has been tagged for 20 earned runs in his last four. Wilson is 6-6 against the A’s with a 3.47 ERA.

Oakland will counter with Bartolo Colon in this matchup. The right-hander is 8-8 with an ERA of 3.55. He extended his current scoreless streak to 16 1/3 innings after blanking the Blue Jays for eight full innings this past Thursday. He is 8-4 against the Angels with a 2.88 ERA.

Los Angeles is 3-7 in Game 2 of its last 10 series and 1-4 in its last five road games. The Athletics are 21-8 in their last 29 games overall and 5-1 in Colon’s last six starts. Despite the fact that the Angels are 4-1 in their last five games in Oakland, stick with Colon and the A’s to come through in the back-end of this parlay.
