Thursday MLB Betting Parlay – Phillies vs. Nationals, Angels vs. Rangers

MLB Betting Previews- Thursday, August 2 Parlay

With the start of MLB’s stretch run there are several divisional races that appear to be headed right down to the wire as every game from here on in can have an impact on the final outcome.

We crunched the numbers on all the facts and figures and studied the betting trends for the pitching matchups on Thursday’s slate of games and have uncovered a two-team parlay that promises to help end your week on a profitable note.

Game 1- Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals
Money Line: Philadelphia -115 Washington +105
Total Line: 6.5

Matchup | Preview

Philadelphia will send its top pitcher in the rotation to the mound in this one with Cole Hamels getting the start. As the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal season, the left-hander comes into this matchup with an 11-5 record and 3.31 ERA in 20 previous outings this year. His last start was not his best; giving-up four earned runs while issuing six walks, but Hamels is 12-4 against the Nationals with a 2.48 ERA.

Washington will counter with Ross Detwiler. The left-hander also got rocked-around his last time out and allowed four earned runs on seven hits after giving-up a total of four earned runs in his previous three starts. He is now 5-4 overall with an ERA of 3.24. Detwiler is 1-3 against the Phillies with a 4.45 ERA.

Tuesday’s 8-0 victory in Game 1 of this series as a134 road underdog was only Philadelphia’s third win in the last 12 meetings. Despite the recent troubles against their division rivals, stick with the Phillies to exploit a huge edge on the mound to grind out the win in the first half of this parlay. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Game 2- Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers
Money Line: Los Angeles +110 Texas -115
Run Line: 7

Matchup | Preview

Los Angeles will try and continue to tighten the gap with Texas in the AL West with CJ Wilson on the mound for this series finale. The left-hander remained winless in the month of July with a loss to Tampa Bay, but he has not given-up more than three earned runs in nine of his last 10 starts. He is 9-7 overall with a 2.88 ERA in 22 previous starts this season.

The newest edition to the Rangers will try and close things out with a win. Ryan Dempster, who came over from the Cubs in a trade earlier this week, is 5-5 this season with a 2.25 ERA. The right-hander has never faced the Angels before, but is 5-6 with an ERA of 3.50 in 14 starts against the AL.

The Angels have already won the first two games of this extended four-game set and are now 7-3 in the last 10 meetings heading into Wednesday’s Game 3. Stick with Los Angeles to ride Wilson to another crucial win on the road to wrap-up a very successful series against its rivals as well as secure the back-end of our parlay.
