GRAB KYLE HUNTERS BASEBALL PREDICTIONS ALL PLAYOFFS LONG —–>

October is here and that means it is time for some playoff baseball! The grind of the 162 game regular season has switched over to a win or go home playoff series format for the eight remaining teams. There is a multitude of great pitching in this year’s playoff race, which makes it even more interesting. Let’s take a closer look at each team in the playoffs and assess their chances to win the World Series.

National League

Philadelphia Phillies- Odds to Win World Series (+140) Odds to Win NL Pennant (-170)

Why They May Win- If you take a look at the 2010 World Series futures, the Phillies are definitely the favorite to win it. Philadelphia has the strongest three man rotation in the playoffs with Halladay, Oswalt, and Hamels. A lineup that contains Victorino, Rollins, Utley, Howard, Werth, Ibanez, and others is definitely going to be trouble for opposing pitchers. The Phillies are absolutely loaded. Why They May Not Win – The Phillies have a great lineup, but they have gone through prolonged stretches during the season where the bats just don’t show up. They better hope that doesn’t occur in the playoffs or they won’t meet their goal.

San Francisco Giants- Odds to Win World Series (+860) Odds to Win NL Pennant (+375)

Why They May Win- A rotation that includes Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, and Bumgarner is deep and dangerous. This is the kind of staff that can dominate a series and carry a team for several games. Why They May Not Win- As good as the pitchers are, the Giants hitting has been suspect all year. They may struggle to score runs against the great pitchers they will face in the playoffs. My Sportsbook

Atlanta Braves- Odds to Win World Series (+1350) Odds to Win NL Pennant (+545)

Why They May Win- They are going to give it their best to make Bobby Cox go out a winner. The pitching rotation is strong and they have playoff experience. Why They May Not Win- Injuries have hurt the Braves in a huge way, and their lineup isn’t as strong as most of the others in the playoffs.

Cincinnati Reds- Odds to Win World Series (+1460) Odds to Win NL Pennant (+515)

Why They May Win – The Reds remind me a lot of a team like the Rays of 2008. They are a young team that has gotten much better in a short period of time. Joey Votto and Jay Bruce form a dynamic duo of young stars. Why They May Not Win – The Reds have no ace on their staff. This will hurt them badly, especially since they were unfortunate enough to draw the Phillies in the first round.

American League

New York Yankees- Odds to Win World Series (+310) Odds to win AL Pennant (+155)

Why They May Win – The Yankees have more experience in the postseason than anyone else, and they know how to win. A lineup with Rodriguez, Jeter, Teixiera, Cano, etc is as good as you’ll find. Why They May Not Win – The Yankees don’t have the pitching depth most other teams in the playoffs have. After Sabathia they may struggle to matchup with a team like the Phillies.

Tampa Bay Rays- Odds to Win World Series (+480) Odds to Win AL Pennant (+230)

Why They May Win- The Rays have made a deep run before, but they are more mature now and they expect to win. They have a dominant ace and a very strong middle of the lineup. Why They May Not Win – The middle of the rotation has struggled recently and Evan Longoria isn’t healthy right now. The Rays will need everyone performing at their best to win.

Texas Rangers- Odds to Win World Series (+570) Odds to Win AL Pennant (+260)

Why They May Win- The Rangers have a proven ace and a lineup of power hitters that could carry them to the World Series. Why They May Not Win – Josh Hamilton isn’t healthy and they’ll definitely need him at 100 percent.

Minnesota Twins- Odds to Win World Series (+1010) Odds to Win AL Pennant (+435)

Why They May Win- The Twins haven’t been expected to win all year, but they just keep on winning despite injury problems. They like being the underdog. Why They May Not Win – Justin Morneau is needed in the middle of the order, and the rotation has no clear ace now that Liriano is struggling.

The Phillies are the favorites and I fully believe they have the best chance to win it all this year. Even though the Yankees don’t have the pitching depth, they do have some value at +310 to win it all. If you are looking for an underdog consider the San Francisco Giants to win the NL Pennant at +375. It should be a great postseason, so enjoy the baseball!
