The Rockies are reeling at the moment, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. Many wondered out loud if the team’s recent woes had to do with a road-heavy slate of games, but since returning home, the Rockies have lost seven of eight.

The team has dealt with some injuries of late, and that doesn’t bode well for their chances of getting out of their recent slump any time soon.

The team has placed both Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer on the disabled list in recent days, and it has their typically potent lineup looking neutered.

Even still, the Rockies banged out 13 hits and 10 runs in the second game of this series on Tuesday, but even that wasn’t enough. The Braves countered with 13 runs on 16 hits of their own. Evan Gattis pounded out a bomb, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and four runs scored.

On Wednesday, the Braves likely won’t need that kind of offensive production, as they’ll send out the ERA-leader in all of baseball in Julio Teheran. Teheran has been lights out for the Braves, leading the team to wins in each of his last four outings.

He’s been on his game throughout the year, but over his last four starts he’s actually lowered his ERA from 2.20 down to 1.89. His WHIP sits at 0.93, and he’s held opposing hitters to a ridiculously low .195 batting average on the season.

The Rockies counter with Tyler Matzek, a southpaw who will be making his major-league debut on Wednesday. Matzek was the No. 11 selection in the 2009 draft but has dealt with injuries in his time in the minors, and will now make his major league debut as a 23-year-old.

He compiled a 5-4 record with a 4.05 ERA for Triple-A Colorado Springs this season.

The Braves aren’t in the greatest of forms themselves, but the Rockies are simply lost at the moment. The team has shown they can win in Colorado in multiple ways, and now they enter the third game of this series with a significant edge on the mound.

Fading pitchers in their first start is always dangerous, but Teheran should handle his business, and the Braves

The Braves are 21-5 in the last 26 meetings between these teams, and they are 14-2 in Teheran’s last 16 starts versus teams with a losing record.

The play: Atlanta -142
