Arizona (18-28), despite back-to-back victories against division-rival Los Angeles over the weekend, is struggling at home, winning just six of 18 games. Meanwhile, they are 12-10 on the road, and will aim to turn around a devastating 9-22 April finish, as they continue to try to climb out the NL West cellar on Tuesday.

To do that, they will hand the ball to veteran starter Bronson Arroyo, who like his team, has turned things around in since the first of May, allowing only two runs and 15 hits over 23 1/3 innings during his three-start winning streak.

The right-hander allowed just a single run on seven hits his last time out against the Washington Nationals, striking out a season-high seven along the way. He has struggled against the Cardinals, posting an 8-16 record in 4.64 ERA in 36 lifetime starts, most of which came when he was with the Reds

St. Louis will counter with Adam Wainwright who is looking to win his fourth straight start on his way to becoming the second seven-game winner in the National League.

The righty held the Atlanta Braves to two runs before closer Trevor Rosenthal blew a save in the ninth inning, in Sunday’s 6-5 loss, which snapped the Cardinals’ four-game winning streak.

Wainwright has allowed just nine hits over his last 24 innings on the mound, but surrendered 11 hits in six innings, giving up four runs in a 5-4 opening day loss to the Diamondbacks in 2013. He is 5-4 in eight career starts with a 2.77 ERA.

  • Over is 7-1-2 in STL last 10 home games.
  • STL are 8-2 in their last 10 Tue. games.
  • Under is 12-4-2 in STL last 18 Tue. games.

1. St. Louis was 3-4 against the Diamondbacks last season, allowing at least six runs on five occasions.
2. Arroyo has not has much success against St. Louis, logging an 8-16 record in 4.64 ERA in 38 appearances (36 starts).
3. Diamondbacks CF A.J. Pollock was 8-for-12 in the series against the Dodgers and is 3-for-3 lifetime versus Wainwright.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Cardinals –

St. Louis was 3-4 against the Diamondbacks just a year ago, allowing at least six runs over five games.

However, the Cardinals are 4-1 in Wainwright’s last five home starts vs. the Dbacks.’

But there’s no value in taking the Cardinals, so take the over here, which has happend five straight meetings between these two teams.
