Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Los Angeles continues to keep pace with Texas in the AL West with six wins in its last 10 games heading into this series. The Angels are 63-52 on the year and a game and a half back in the division. They are 32-25 at home this season and 31-27 on the road.

Pitching remains the strong suit of this team with a 3.35 team ERA that is tops in the American League. Scoring has been LA’s Achilles Heel this season with an average of just 3.83 runs a game, which is ranked next to last in the AL.

Garrett Richards will be making his Major League debut for the Angels on Wednesday night. He was brought up from the minors to take Joel Pineiro’s spot in the rotation. He was 12-2 with a 3.06 ERA this season for Double A Arkansas. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

New York is coming off a disappointing weekend at Fenway where is lost two of three to Boston to fall a game and half back in the Al East. It is now 69-44 overall, but still has a commanding seven-game lead in the Wildcard race. The Yankees are 32-22 on the road and 37-22 at home this season.

Scoring runs has never been an issue for this lineup as it is ranked fifth in the AL in hitting with a team batting average of .265 and second in total runs with 603. New York’s pitching has also been solid with a 3.39 team ERA.

Ivan Nova was facing a trip back to the minors, but a strong performance in his last two outings keeps him in the starting rotation for at least one more game. He is 10-4 with a 3.81 ERA overall this season, but is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.84 since being recalled in late July.

Head-to-head this season, the Yankees won two of three on the road in early June by a combined three runs in a very tight series. The total stayed ‘under’ in all three games.

This time around, stick with New York to once again grind out a win as Nova remains in good form for the third straight game.
