MLB Power Rankings – June 26

Dave B’s MLB Power Rankings – June 25

Another two weeks has passed – time for Dave B’s bi-weekly MLB Power Rankings! This week sees some familiar teams at the top with a traditional powerhouse almost reaching the pinnacle.

It also reveals some troubling trends for some of the previous teams on my rankings. Its sports folks – thing change and this week is no exception.

So, without further adieu, let’s take a look at Dave B’s bi-weekly look at the MLB Power Rankings.

1. Texas Rangers (2) – The Rangers still lead MLB in wins and after a brief struggle, this team is 8-2 in their last 10 and looking dangerous in every aspect once again. The Rangers barely hold onto #1.

2. New York Yankees (5) – The Yanks had a 10 game win streak snapped last week and are now within a whisper of the best record in the Bigs. Their weakness – pitching has been terrific and the offense reached the 100 home run plateau – the first team to do so this year.

3. Washington Nationals (3) – The Nats are just 4-6 in their last 10 games but they are still top 3 – that’s how scary this team looks! Pitching has been sensational and the offense looks as dangerous as any lineup in the league – seriously!!!

4. Los Angeles Dodgers (1) – The Dodgers suffered their first real rough patch this year and they still lead the NL standings. Matt Kemp is still out meaning that the Dodgers may have to make a move to maintain a Top 5 spot on the rankings.

5. Baltimore Orioles (9) – The Orioles just won’t go away! 10 games above .500 and making people take notice. I fully expect them to tumble but I have been saying that all season long!

6. Cincinnati Reds (10) – lost 2 of 3 to the Twins? They are just 5-5 in their last 10 but they are getting some solid play from their best players – Joey Votto has been terrific and the bullpen has been good. They are a tenuous 6 but 6 nonetheless.

7. Tampa Bay Rays (4) – The Rays are just 5-5 in their last 10 games but are hanging around despite being without arguably their best offensive player Evan Longoria. This team is scary with their pitching staff and if their offense can find some consistency – look out!

8. Chicago White Sox (6) – still lead the AL Central despite going 4-6 in their last 10 games. Jake Peavy and Adam Dunn have led the way for this team – a team that hasn’t been out of the top 10 in my rankings all season long.

9. San Francisco Giants (8) – Have gone just 4-6 in their last 10 games. Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain and company have this team right where they should be – in a playoff hunt in the National League.

10. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (16) – Albert Pujols finally looks like Albert Pujols and with Jared Weaver rejoining the team off the DL the Angels are suddenly a very, very formidable team!

11. Pittsburgh Pirates (12) – are proving that last year was no fluke. They are 6-4 in their last 10 and appear to be as complete a team as Pittsburgh has fielded in a very, very long time!

12. New York Mets (13) – The Mets are still the surprise team of the National League – hands down! They fared well over the weekend against the hottest team in the Bigs – the Yankees but are still just 5-5 in their last 10 games. How long will their top 15 spot last? [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

13. Atlanta Braves (7) – has really fallen on hard times the last few weeks and are just 4-6 in their last 10 games including a rough weekend against Boston. With Brandon Beachy gone for the season, expect the Braves to slip even more.

14. Cleveland Indians (11) – this is as hot and cold a team as there is in MLB. Still, they are 3 games above .500 and are only ½ game back in the AL central.

15. St. Louis Cardinals (14) – The Cards are creeping up in the NL Central thanks to Carlos Beltran and Allen Craig. Thanks to three straight wins, the Cards are three games over .500 and barely top 15 on my bi-weekly rankings!

16. Toronto Blue Jays (15)
17. Boston Red Sox (21)
18. Miami Marlins (17)
19. Arizona Diamondbacks (18)
20. Oakland Athletics (25)
21. Detroit Tigers (19)
22. Philadelphia Phillies (20)
23. Seattle Mariners (22)
24. Milwaukee Brewers (23)
25. Kansas City Royals (28)
26. Houston Astros (24)
27. Colorado Rockies (27)
28. Minnesota Twins (26)
29. San Diego Padres (29)
30. Chicago Cubs (30)
