What are you waiting for? Bet NOW! The Ladies Classic is a Weight for Age race open to Thoroughbred Fillies and Mares age 3 and up. It is contested on a dirt track at a distance of 1 1/8 mile with a total prize purse of $2,000,000. There are three automatic bids awarded from wins in a designated Challenge Race for this division and the rest of the field is determined by total points earned over the course of the racing season.

The current favorites for this race are as follows:

  • Mushka: She won her automatic bid with a win in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland after Proviso was disqualified for cutting her off. In her previous outing she took first in the Glenn Falls Handicap at Saratoga.
  • Swift Temper: Her first place finish in the Grade 1 Ruffian Handicap at Belmont placed her in the field for the Ladies Classic. There is some concern with this horse after a 10th place finish in the Juddmonte Spinster which she was favored to win.
  • Zenyatta: With a victory in the Grade 1 Lady’s Secret Stakes at Santa Anita she earned a bid for the Ladies Classic. This horse has won 13 straight races which should make her the odds on favorite.
  • Stardom Bound: The current point leader for the Ladies Classic, she also won an automatic bid for the BC Juvenile Fillies with a win in the Oak Leaf Stakes.
  • Careless Jewel: She heads into this race with five victories in her last five starts including a win in the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga. Many experts believe she will be the horse to beat in the Ladies Classic.

Predicted order of finish for the Ladies Classic:

Win – Careless Jewel

Place – Zenyatta

Show -Mushka
