MREAST’s WEEKLY LOOK AT NCAAF TITLE CHASERS

The landscape in NCAAF looks the same as it did a week ago, as the table’s are getting set for the big Thursday feast across the country, so is the NCAAF Bowl Championship table set.

All 6 unbeaten teams remain unbeaten, but the 1 loss teams have melted down 2 just 2, as Pitt and Georgia Tech are now alone with a single loss.

Let’s take a look at the picture, that is pretty clear right now, starting with this week’s games.

FLORIDA ST (6-5) @ FLORIDA (11-0) Bowden’s boys will be looking at this one to be the sour apple on the Gator’s schedule that keeps them out of the BCS Championship game, and sour the hype, and expectation of the Gator/Tide showdown in the SEC Championship game.

The problem is the Gators are better in all 3 areas special teams, defense, and offense, and an upset is very unlikely.

UPSET POTENTIAL: SMALL- ALABAMA (11-0) @ AUBURN (7-4) The Tide shutout their arch rivals last season, and the Tigers have a bit more roar this season, but the Tide defense is a death wall, and the Tiger “D” isn’t up to the challenge. This is a huge rivalry, and the Tide better bring their “A” game because the Tigers will bring theirs.

UPSET POTENTIAL: SMALL ILLINOIS (3-7) @ CINCINNATI (10-0) The Bearcats have shown some vulnerabilities on defense, but the offense is too explosive, and the Illini just don’t have the offensive juice to take advantage.

UPSET POTENTIAL: SMALL- TEXAS (11-0) @ TEXAS A&M (6-5) Aggies are better than a year ago, but as scary as it sounds, so are the Horns. This is a huge rivalry game, but the Longhorns are not going to let the Aggies spoil their Thanksgiving, or showdown with the Fla/Tide winner.

UPSET POTENTIAL: 0 N. MEXICO (1-10) @ TCU (11-0) Forget it! If there is an upset here there ught to be an investigation!

NEVADA (8-3) @ BOISE ST. (11-0) The Wolfpack has a beastly running attack, and an offense that will test the meddle of the Broncos resolve. Boise St. is looking at a BCS Bowl bid, and a huge game. I don’t think the Pack can win this one, but if they get the ground game moving the chains consistently, it could get interesting.

UPSET POTENTIAL: SMALL+ CINCINNATI: 10-0 BYE BIG GAME UPCOMING WITH 9-1 PITT LOOKING AHEAD: Unless something well outside the realm of expectation occurs, the SEC Championship game is going to be a play-in game to see who faces Texas for the National Championship. While there is usually controversy surrounding the #3 team, in this case it will likely be the loser of this game, so that means either TCU, or Cincinnati, will move up to #3. Let the arguements begin, but I think it is a pretty clear picture, unless the football powers to be, rain an upset on either Alabama,Florida, or Texas.

Then we will really have something to talk about! Until next week, may your Thanksgiving be full of thanks, for what we all have, and wishes and prayers for those that don’t!

See you again next week, 5 pounds heavier!

May the hook be with you! EAST
