NFL Week 7 Match Ups

The game of the week has the unbeaten 6-0 Minnesota Vikings traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the 4-2 Steelers. This will be the first true test for Brett Favre and Co. outside the friendly confines of the Metrodome. Some other big games this week are Chicago @ Cincinnati, Arizona @ N.Y. Giants, and Atlanta @ Dallas.

Here is a brief look at all the match ups with some keys to the game.

Sunday, Oct. 25

(Byes: Baltimore, Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville, Seattle, Tennessee)

Chicago Bears at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m.

Look for Bengal RB Cedric Benson to have a big day against his former team. The loss of DE Antwon Odom with a torn Achilles will definitely hurt Cincinnati’s pass rush.

Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.

If the Browns do not already have enough problems, it has been reported that several players are currently battling the flu.

San Francisco 49ers at Houston Texans, 1 p.m.

The 49er’s defense, torched for 329 passing yards in their last outing against the Falcons, face QB Matt Schaub who has thrown for 1644 yards and 14 TDs in his past 5 games.

San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.

This is the third year in a row that the Chargers have started the season 2-3. In the past two years they won their next game to help jump start their season.

Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.

Steeler QB Ben Roethlisberger should be able to exploit a Vikings defense that gave up 31 points to the Ravens including 21 in the last ten minutes of the game.

Indianapolis Colts at St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m.

While everyone knows that Colts QB Peyton Manning is having another MVP type year, their defense is ranked 2nd in points allowed and 7th overall.

New England Patriots vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m.

In the NFL’s annual International Series game started two years ago, Tampa will be designated as the home team when they take the field in Wembley Stadium in London.

Buffalo Bills at Carolina Panthers, 4:05 p.m.

Bills QB Trent Edwards remains a question mark for this game after suffering a concussion in the win last week against the Jets. If he cannot go, Ryan Fitzpatrick who started 12 games last season for the Bengals will get the start.

New York Jets at Oakland Raiders, 4:05 p.m.

This should be the ultimate defensive battle as both team’s offense has all but disappeared over the past few weeks.

Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys, 4:15 p.m.

The Cowboys are averaging 420 yards of total offense per game including 161 yards on the ground, but have lacked the consistency to capitalize on all this production.

New Orleans Saints at Miami Dolphins, 4:15 p.m.

The Saints have to be a bit leery on playing the Dolphins on the road. Despite winning, their games against the Bills and the Jets were their two toughest of the year.

Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants, 8:20 p.m.

Arizona’s defense is ranked 31st against the pass and 1st against the run. The Giants had 15 sacks in their first 5 games, but none against the Saints in last week’s loss.

Monday, Oct. 26

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins, 8:30 p.m.

In the loss to Oakland, the Eagles threw the ball 77% of the time and McNabb’s completion percentage was 48%. Look for them to try and run the ball against a ‘Skins run defense that is ranked 22nd.

From a betting perspective nine underdogs have covered the spread each of the last two weeks with three teams covering, but losing and six teams winning outright.

As trends in betting have a way of evening themselves out this could be a good week to give the points and stick with the favorites.
