NFL Week 8 Totals Analysis

Once again the over bet had the slight advantage as seven games went over the total and six games stayed under. There were a few surprises with the under such as Indianapolis being held to only 18 points by the 49ers and Denver only managing 7 points in their loss to the Ravens. The two hottest teams in the league did not disappoint as the Vikings put up 38 points on the Packers and New Orleans scored 35 against the Falcons helping to take both those games way over the total.

Here is a brief recap of all the games.

Sunday, Nov. 1

(Byes: Cincinnati, Kansas City, New England, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Washington)

Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens
Over/Under 41.5 || Result 37 UNDER

Baltimore’s defense finally shows up and hands Denver their first loss of the year. Ladarius Webb’s 95 yard kickoff return for a TD to start the second half sparked the Ravens to victory.

Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills
Over/Under 41.5 || Result 41 UNDER

At 5-3 the Texans are off to their best start in franchise history. Houston RB Ryan Moats led the way with 126 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

Cleveland Browns at Chicago Bears
Over/Under 40 || Result 36 UNDER

The Browns may have officially become the worst team in the NFL after this dreadful performance against the Bears. Chicago scored 20 points alone on five turnovers.

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys
Over/Under 46 || Result 55 OVER

Tony Romo had another big day for Dallas throwing for 3 TD’s including one to WR Miles Austin who is now the #1 receiver for the Cowboys.

St. Louis Rams at Detroit Lions
Over/Under 44 || Result 27 UNDER

The Rams end their losing streak at 17, while Detroit continued their new one at 4. This one was destined to stay under from the start as both teams kept the ball on the ground for most of the game.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
Over/Under 47 || Result 64 OVER

Brett Favre threw for 244 yards and 4 TD’s against his old team and seemed to enjoy every minute of it. Give credit to the Packers for trying to keep this game close, but the Vikings were just too much to handle.

San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts
Over/Under 45 || Result 32 UNDER

The 49ers gave the Colts all they could handle and even had the lead midway in the 4th quarter, but couldn’t hold on for the win. A Joseph Addia halfback option pass to Reggie Wayne was the difference.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets
Over/Under 40.5 || Result 55 OVER

Two kick returns for touchdowns by Miami WR Ted Ginn and a fumble recovery by Jason Taylor for another score propelled the Dolphins over the beleaguered Jets.

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers
Over/Under 41.5 || Result 40 UNDER

The Chargers continue their dominance over the Raiders with their 13th straight win. LaDainian Tomlinson scored two TD’s on the ground. All three of his TD’s this year have come against Oakland.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
Over/Under 45 || Result 43 UNDER

Vince Young got the start at quarterback and Tennessee got their first win of the year. RB Chris Johnson was the real hero of this game running for 228 yards and 2 TD’s to lead the Titans to the win

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals
Over/Under 41 || Result 55 OVER

Arizona QB Kurt Warner threw 5 interceptions and fumbled the ball once in an ugly loss to the Panthers. Carolina gained over 240 yards on the ground led by RB’s DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
Over/Under 44 || Result 57 OVER

The Eagles jumped all over the Giants early and often with big plays to WR’s DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. FB Leonard Weaver and RB LeSean McCoy also scored on long runs.

Monday, Nov. 2

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
Over/Under 54.5 || Result 62 OVER

Atlanta tried to keep this one close and even had a chance to tie it up after recovering an onside kick late in the game, but the Saint’s offense was just too much to handle.

After the first 8 weeks of the season, the Colts are still the team to beat in the AFC, while New Orleans and Minnesota remain the top two teams in the NFC. Look for the winner of this week’s Dallas@ Philadelphia game to possibly join this group.

YTD Record: 56-59
