Week 4 NFL Totals Betting Analysis

The points were flying around this week as even Cleveland scored 20. Nine games went over the total while five stayed under. It wasn’t all about offense as a number of points were scored on turnovers and special teams.

Here is a brief recap of all the games.

Sunday, Oct. 4

(Byes: Arizona, Atlanta, Carolina, Philadelphia)

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
The Over/Under Was Set At 39 || Result 72 OVER

The Bears explode for 48 points aided by a big kick return for a TD, a couple of Detroit turnovers, and some solid running from RB Matt Forte.

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
The Over/Under Was Set At 37.5 || Result 43 OVER

This one was very close to ending in a tie as the Bengals got the game winning field goal with only seconds left in overtime. Give Cleveland credit for scoring 20 points.

Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans
The Over/Under Was Set At 42.5 || Result 35 UNDER

Oakland continues to shoot themselves in the foot with mistakes and turnovers. The Raiders should resign QB Jeff Garcia as JaMarcus Russell continues to struggle badly.

Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts
The Over/Under Was Set At 44 || Result 51 OVER

The Seattle offense just isn’t the same without QB Matt Hasselbeck. Peyton Manning once again show why he is one of the best in the game

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Over/Under Was Set At 41.5 || Result 54 OVER

The Titans fall to 0-4 as Jacksonville QB David Garrard threw for 323 yards and three TDs including two to WR Mike Sims-Walker.

New York Giants at Kansas City Chiefs
The Over/Under Was Set At 42 || Result 43 OVER

The Giants completely controlled this game from the start, but a few cheap touchdowns by Kansas City takes the game total over late in the 4th.

Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots
The Over/Under Was Set At 44.5 || Result 48 OVER

The Patriots make a statement in this one as they are still the team to beat in the AFC. Having WR Wes Welker back in the lineup got Brady back into his comfort zone.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Redskins
The Over/Under Was Set At 37 || Result 29 UNDER

A very predictable || Result as neither offense looked all that good. The Redskin’s ability to move the ball somewhat better in the second half proved to be the difference.

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins
The Over/Under Was Set At 37 || Result 48 OVER

Miami rolls up the yards on the ground and capitalizes on numerous Buffalo turnovers and mistakes to get their first win.

New York Jets at New Orleans Saints
The Over/Under Was Set At 45 || Result 34 UNDER

The Saints turn the table on the Jets and win this game with their defense. Mark Sanchez with four turnovers finally looked like a rookie.

Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos
The Over/Under Was Set At 42 || Result 27 UNDER

The Cowboys’ offense continues to struggle as the Broncos improve to 4-0 in a tough defensive battle. The heat will be on Tony Romo and Wade Phillips in Big D.

St. Louis Rams at San Francisco 49ers
The Over/Under Was Set At 37 || Result 35 UNDER

The 49ers won this game with a complete effort on offense, defense, and special teams. The Rams were held to only 177 yards of total offense.

San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Over/Under Was Set At 43 || Result 66 OVER

Pittsburgh’s offense explodes for 38 points with RB Rashard Medenhall gaining 165 yards on the ground.

Monday, Oct. 5

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
The Over/Under Was Set At 45.5 || Result

Brett Favre wins round one of the two game showdown between his new and old team. Favre lit it up throwing for 271 yards and 3 TD’s.

Interceptions for quick sixes and breakdowns on special teams that lead to returns for TD’s have been a major factor in several games this season. These game changing plays are great for the game, but they have a way of reeking havoc on the over/under line.

YTD Record: 31-31
