NFL Week 12 Totals Analysis

With Monday night’s New England@ New Orleans game staying under by ½ a point, on a total line of a whopping 55 ½ the under bet was a solid play in week twelve. Eleven games stayed under the total and only five games went over. Defense rose to the occasion as six teams were held to 10 points or less including the N.Y. Giants, Jaguars, and Bears.

The big three continued to pour it on as the Saints, Vikings, and Colts each scored over 35 points in their wins.

Thursday, Nov. 26

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
Over/Under 47.5 Result 46 UNDER

Give Matthew Stafford credit for even playing in this game with a dislocated left shoulder, but his four interceptions certainly did not help the Lions cause.

Oakland Raiders at Dallas Cowboys
Over/Under 40.5 Result 31 UNDER

Once again Dallas shined on Thanksgiving as Tony Romo threw for 309 yards and two TD’s and the Cowboys’ defense held the Raiders to just 304 yards of total offense and one touchdown.

New York Giants at Denver Broncos
Over/Under 42 Result 32 UNDER

The Broncos held the Giants to only 57 yards on the ground and kept pressure on Eli Manning all game long sacking him three times and causing two fumbles and an interception.

Sunday, Nov. 29

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons
Over/Under 46 Result 37 UNDER

With both QB Matt Ryan and RB Michael Turner knocked out of this game, Atlanta found a way to salvage their season with a last second touchdown to win the game.

Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
Over/Under 40 Result 44 OVER

Four interceptions including one by RB Ricky Williams, helped lead to a big upset by the Bills seriously hurting the Dolphins playoff chances. WR Terrell Owens had another big day including a 51 yard reception for a score.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
Over/Under 39 Result 23 UNDER

RB’s Bernard Scott and newly acquired Larry Johnson rushed for 210 yards as the Bengals grinded out their eighth win of the season.

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
Over/Under 49 Result 59 OVER

Once again the Colts fall behind early and pull out a victory. This time they scored 21 points in the 4th quarter including a 27 yard interception return for a TD by Clint Session.

Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Over/Under 47 Result 46 UNDER

Vikings played another complete game on both sides of the ball to win their 10th game of the year. Brett Favre threw for almost 400 yards and 3 TD’s in the win.

Carolina Panthers at New York Jets
Over/Under 41.5 Result 23 UNDER

Panther QB Jake Delhomme fell back into his old ways throwing four interceptions in a loss that ended their playoff hopes, but kept the Jet’s ones alive.

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles
Over/Under 41 Result 51 OVER

A late rally by Philly to overcome an eight point 4th quarter deficit completes the season sweep over the Redskins.

Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams
Over/Under 42.5 Result 44 OVER

Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck only threw for 102 yards, but 5’8” RB Justin Forsett, who replaced an injured Julius Jones ran for 130 yards and 2 TD’s in the win.

Arizona Cardinals at Tennessee Titans
Over/Under 47 Result 37 UNDER

Without Kurt Warner, Arizona’s offense was held to just 17 points. Titan QB Vince Young won his 5th straight start by leading a dramatic 99 yard 4th quarter drive that ended with a game winning TD pass as time expired.

Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers
Over/Under 45 Result 57 OVER

The Chargers’ offense was once again clicking on all cylinders as they rolled over the Chiefs to win their six straight game.

Jacksonville Jaguars at San Francisco 49ers
Over/Under 41.5 Result 23 UNDER

The 49ers defense held the Jaguars scoreless in four trips to the red zone, including causing two fumbles by QB David Garrard.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
Over/Under 39.5 Result 37 UNDER

Dennis Dixon got his first NFL start for the injured Ben Roethlisberger. He was able to keep the Steelers in this game until a costly interception in overtime led to the game winning field goal for the Ravens.

Monday, Nov. 30

New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints
Over/Under 55.5 Result

The Saints made this one look easy as Drew Brees picked the Patriot’s secondary apart for 350 yards and 5 TD passes in a 38-17 romp.

And then there were three as Minnesota, New Orleans, and Indianapolis have clearly separated themselves from the rest of the league with yet another impressive win. With a combined record of 31-1 they have more wins than 11 other teams combined.
