Big Ten Conference Football Future Lines – Bodog Sportsbook

Lots of really good story lines in the Big Ten this year…I don’t even know where to begin. There is the addition of Nebraska and the demise of Ohio State. Quarterback Russell Wilson might make Wisconsin a BCS hopeful while new Michigan coach Brady Hoke is going to try and do his best to reign in the best rushing QB any of us have ever seen in Dernard Robinson.

Big Ten Conference 2011 – Odds to Win Conference

Nebraska 8/5
Wisconsin 13/5
Ohio State 5/1
Penn State 11/2
Michigan State 10/1
Michigan 16/1
Iowa 18/1
Northwestern 22/1
Illinois 25/1
Purdue 85/1
Indiana 125/1
Minnesota 125/1

It should be a a very interesting and entertaining season for the conference with nearly everybody but Ohio State thinking they have improved their team from a year ago.

Big 10 Football Future Lines

Best Bet – Nebraska

The Nebraska Cornhuskers should have the leagues best defense and in QB Taylor Martinez one of its most exciting playmakers. On top of all that they will be looking to make a statement in their first run through the Big 10. With Ohio State a huge question mark it is hard not to see Nebraska continuing the winning ways they have become accustomed to under coach Bo Pelini.
Best Value – Michigan State

Don’t be too quick to forget that Michigan State is coming off a fantastic season and is returning one of the best offensive backfields in the country with Kirk Cousins & Co. Last year they were able to “get away with” some very clever plays on their way to 11 victories and a BCS snub. This year it is going to be much trickier.

The schedule is challenging with a visit to Nebraska and the Badgers coming East Lansing. If it is one of those seasons where everybody loses to somebody else (round robin style ) they might win the division and have a shot at the title. At 10/1 odds that’s not bad.

Best Schedule – Illinois

It would be a very unexpected sequence of events that would lead to the Fighting Ilini winning the conference. However, in a league where there is a championship game the key to to get there and then see what happens. Illinois, although not the most talented team ,has the easiest road. All the toughest teams on their schedule come to Champagne (Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Northwestern) and their road dates are to Indiana, Purdue, Penn State and Minnesota. If they beat OSU there will be a lot of talk about the Illini in November.

Prediction – Wisconsin

The addition of quarterback Russell Wilson was a good one but this was the team I liked best even before that. The demise of OSU and his addition only sealed the deal.

You know that these guys are going to run all over everybody and now they can move the chains through the air as well. It won’t be easy winning on the road at OSU and MSU in back to back weeks but this team and this program just chugs along. The bigger test will be beating Nebraska in Madison a couple weeks prior to that.

That is what will deliver them to the Championship game where they might meet again.
