1. Mark Ingram (RB) – Alabama Crimson Tide

Ingram was blasted by the pollsters (and me) when he totaled just 30-yards and zero touchdowns in the game against Auburn. He sure picked a great time to have his biggest game of the season, rushing for 113 yards and three touchdowns against Florida’s insanely fast defense. The Tide’s rock and roller finished the season with 1,542 yards and 15 touchdowns and will go head-to-head with the other, main Heisman candidate in the BCS Championship game.

Next Game: Texas vs. Alabama (-3.5)

2. Colt McCoy (QB) – Texas Longhorns

Colt McCoy didn’t exactly have the kind of game he wanted to in the Big 12 Championship. In fact, he almost ran out the clock with Texas losing 10-12 with one-second remaining. Thank God for him the clock workers at the game didn’t want to see a TCU-Alabama national title game. McCoy posted just 184 passing yards and three picks and failed to score over the weekend. He was once again bailed out of this game by his defense, and his candidacy was hinging on a big performance in the Big 12 Championship.

Still McCoy will get major votes for appearing in the national title game and for his incredible college career. With the most wins by any college player in history, McCoy will almost certainly challenge for the Heisman. Adding a national title to his already stellar resume is priority one.

Next Game: Texas vs. Alabama (-3.5)

3. Toby Gerhart (RB) – Stanford Cardinal

Gerhart is everyone’s darling pick, and his numbers are staggering. With 1,736 yards, 26 touchdowns and victories over Oregon, Notre Dame and USC on his resume, Gerhart has done everything conceivable to put him in serious contention for the Heisman Trophy. He’s the nation’s top running-back and put himself, and Stanford, on the proverbial map. Gerhart may lose out to Ingram solely because of Ingram’s perfect winning record but Toby could stand to be the longshot winner this weekend considering that McCoy and Ingram have vanished in games this season.

Next Game: Stanford vs. Oklahoma

4. C.J. Spiller (RB) – Clemson Tigers

If McCoy is getting a deserving nod from the pollsters because of his career achievements, then Spiller will also get that nod. He’s become one of college’s best all-round players, piling up 1,590 total yards from scrimmage and 15 total touchdowns. It doesn’t help that the Tigers lost to the Yellow Jackets in the ACC title game, but Spiller’s entire career has made him one of the top-25 players in college history and the Heisman voters may give him some sympathy votes considering the class they are taking to NYC.

Next Game: Kentucky vs. Clemson

5. Tim Tebow (QB) – Florida Gators

There’s no crying in football, and no Heisman in Tebow’s college props betting futures.

Next Game: Cincinnati vs. Florida (-10.5)
