NFL Week 14 Preview: Dallas vs. Pittsburgh

NFL Football Betting Preview and football handicapping plus free picks for the Week 14 Wagering matchup between the Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers…

NFL Football Betting – Dallas Cowboys @ Pittsburgh Steelers

An old rivalry will be renewed Sunday afternoon at Heinz Field when the AFC North leading Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3 SU, 6-6 ATS) host the Dallas Cowboys (8-4 SU, 6-6 ATS). Dallas has been on fire since the return of Pro Bowl QB Tony Romo, winning its last three games for NFL bettors both SU and by the pro football odds.  Pittsburgh has been equally impressive over its last three games by registering sports betting wins in two of three after failing to cover against the Chargers in that controversial Sunday afternoon rain soaked affair.

When Tony Romo went down with a broken finger a couple months ago, the Cowboys season appeared to be on the ropes. After going 1-2 under QB Brad Johnson, the Cowboys playoffs hopes appeared to fade sitting at 5-4 in the competitive NFC East. However, Romo came back and has since rejuvenated the franchise.

On Thanksgiving, Romo shined in leading the Cowboys to a 34-9 pro football wagering victory over the Seahawks, completing 22 of 34 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Reliable TE Jason Witten was once again an important asset for Romo, and Cowboys bettors as well, hauling in nine passes for 115 yards and a touchdown in the win. Mercurial WR Terrell Owens also had a nice day catching five passes for 98 yards and a score. The Cowboys star-studded offense has been good news for bettors that wager on NFL games to go over the ‘total’, with six of the last nine Cowboys games going over per the closing NFL wagering lines.

Last Sunday, the Steelers got a huge monkey off their back with a solid 33-10 sports betting win against the Patriots in Foxboro Stadium. In the win, QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 17 of 33 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns with one interception for the Steelers. Pittsburgh’s ground game churned out 161 yards on 34 carries to wear down the Patriots defense.

Head coach Mike Tomlin’s stop unit was once again phenomenal in holding their 12th straight opponent to under 300 yards of total offense this season, making them the best in the league allowing just 238 yards per game on average. They’re also tops in PPG allowed surrendering just 14.2 PPG this season. With the league’s best defense come lower totals from Vegas, which is a big reason why three of the past four Steelers games have gone over the ‘total’ by the NFL odds.

Current NFL betting trends to know before wagering on this game include: Dallas is 0-6 ATS for NFL gamblers in its past six December games, the Steelers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 December games, and the ‘over’ is 16-7-2 in the Cowboys past 25 games away from illustrious Texas Stadium.

Current NFL lines have the Steelers installed as a field goal favorite in this game with a ‘total’ of 40 points.
