Bears @ Texans in NFL Online Betting Action

The NFL enters its final week of regular season sports betting action, and BetUS customers will get one final chance to sink their teeth into all of the fantastic action. As a part of a crowded Sunday football betting card, the Chicago Bears (9-6, 6-7-2 ATS) invade Reliant Stadium to do battle with the Houston Texans (7-8, 7-8 ATS).

Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans 1:00 PM

This will be just the second time these teams have met in the regular season in Texans history, and will be the first trip for Chicago to Houston since the Oilers left town. In 2004, Houston knocked the Bears off 24-5 as 1.5-point home pups. Should the boys from the “Windy City” win this game, they will have a chance at qualifying for the postseason, but they’re going to need some help to get in. A win and a Minnesota loss to the Giants will give them the NFC North crown, but they can also sneak into the playoffs as a wild card with a win over the Texans and losses by both Dallas and Tampa Bay.

The season looked to be all but over for Chicago on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. With just a few seconds remaining, the Packers were lined up to boot what would’ve been the game-winning field goal that would have eliminated the Bears. The kick was blocked, which allowed the Bears to win their second straight overtime game in as many weeks. Once again, K Robbie Gould was the hero, as he booted a 38-yard field goal on the opening drive of the extra frame to save the season.

Bears bettors weren’t too pleased with the outcome though, as they failed to cover the four-point closing spread against the slumping Pack. RB Matt Forte continued his very impressive rookie campaign, racking up 101 yards from scrimmage and scoring one of the two offensive TDs in the 20-17 win. The Tulane product has now run for 1,181 yards on the season, and has a total of 12 TDs.

Houston was one of the hottest teams in the NFL for sports bettors going into Week 16, which made the 27-16 loss in Oakland all the more surprising. The loss snapped the Texans’ four-game winning streak SU and five-game winning streak ATS. There hasn’t been a streakier team for ‘total’ bettors this year than Houston, either, as the Texans have now played five straight ‘unders’ after starting out the season 9-1 for ‘over’ bettors.

QB Matt Schaub put forth his worst game in months, only completing 19 of 36 passes for 255 yards with an interception. In spite of the fact that he missed the better part of seven games this season, Schaub can still reach the 3,000-yard plateau with 285 passing yards against Chicago. WR Andre Johnson had his worst game of the season, only grabbing two passes for a total of 19 yards.

Even though the Bears are the team with the most on the line, the Texans have been installed as three-point favorites with a game ‘total’ of 46.5 points on the BetUS NFL betting line.

Reliant Stadium has been a terror for the opposition, as the Texans are 5-2 SU on the season. Keep an eye on the ‘under’ in this one, as Houston’s run of ‘under’ games paired with the fact that Chicago is 7-1 towards the ‘under’ in its L/8 road games makes a good case for another low scoring affair.
