College football week 8 football straight up selections from the best sports handicappers in the world at CappersPicks.com

NCAAF Week 8 Weekend Moneylines

A solid week gets us back into the plus territory – let’s see if we can keep it rolling this week and we approach the halfway point of the college football season.

Record: 19-7 (+3.6 units)

Virginia Tech Hokies (+120) @ Boston College Eagles

Virginia Tech should find itself in another low-scoring, tight, defensive contest that they seemingly have become so good in. They are fresh off a bye week and head to Boston College, who surprisingly has the fifth-best defense in the nation. Although the stats might say otherwise, the two defenses are pretty much equal and since Virginia Tech is already road tested with wins at North Carolina and at Nebraska, they shouldn’t be intimidated by the environment.

The Hokies know how to win these low-scoring games. Whether they are getting points on special teams, or defense, or just simply winning the battle of field position, Frank Beamer knows how to pull his team ahead in these tight games. VA Tech is just a little more tested than the Eagles and that should be the difference.

USC Trojans -10000 @ Washington State Huskies

The USC Trojans are one of the best teams in college football. The Washington Huskies are one of the worst.

Last weekend, the Cougars defense gave up more than 60 points for the second time in three weeks. One of those teams was Oregon, who USC stomped two weeks ago.

USC has bounced back well after their road loss at Oregon State. They trounced Oregon then shutout Arizona State. It’s hard to back Washington State in any scenario – even with the points. They are clearly one of the worst BCS schools and maybe one of the worst teams around period

Missouri Tigers (+160) @ Texas Longhorns

The Missouri Tigers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Oklahoma State in a game where they were expected to win by two touchdowns. While the Tigers are on a downer, the Longhorns couldn’t be higher at this point – literally. They toppled Oklahoma and are now the No. 1 team in the nation.

Both defenses give up a lot of passing yards, so expect another shootout, but look for Missouri to be a little more focused. Missouri hasn’t won in Texas since 1896 and has had this game circled since the offseason. Texas is off a big win against their rivalry and might rest on their laurels a little bit. Despite their respective performances last week, there isn’t much between these teams.

Michigan Wolverines @ Penn State Nittany Lions (-2000)

The Penn State Nittany Lions have been terrorizing everything in their path and the lowly Michigan Wolverines shouldn’t be any different. Michigan lost at home to Toledo last year, which gives you an indication of how far this program has fallen.

The one caveat that you have to be wary of is that Penn State faces Ohio State next week, which many people believe will be the deciding game for the Big 10. If Penn State is looking ahead – as we’ve seen a number of teams do already – they could find themselves in a dogfight. Even so, Michigan doesn’t look to have enough bite or bark to get the job done.
