Arizona Wildcats (+5) vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (-5)

The Arizona Wildcats (2-0 SU, 0-2 ATS, 0-2 O/U) and the Iowa Hawkeyes (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS, 0-1 O/U) will both be looking to keep their 2009 regular season records perfect when they square off at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET.

Arizona beat Northern Arizona 34-17 on Saturday but failed to cover the spread for their betting backers as whopping 30.5-point favorites while the final score played Under the 59.5-point O/U total.

Sophomore quarterback Matt Scott completed 14 of 20 passes for 150 yards with one touchdown and one interception while junior running back Nicholas Grigsby rushed for 207 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns.

Iowa junior quarterback Ricky Stanzi completed 18 of 34 passes for 197 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes and Iowa forced six turnovers in beating Iowa State 35-3 in Week 2.

The Hawkeyes cashed in for BetUS NCAA college football betting members as 6.5-point favorites, while the final score played Under the 47.5-point O/U total.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NCAAF Free Picks.

Wildcats are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog.
Wildcats are 6-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Wildcats are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Big Ten.
Wildcats are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Hawkeyes are 5-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Hawkeyes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite.
Hawkeyes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Under is 4-0 in Wildcats last 4 games overall.
Under is 13-3 in Hawkeyes last 16 non-conference games.

NCAAF Betting Odds

Arizona +5 -110
Iowa -5 -110
Over 41 -110
Under 41 -110

Analysis: I’m a bit surprised that Iowa isn’t favored by a few more points as they are clearly the better team in this matchup and are playing at home in this contest.

Junior quarterback Ricky Stanzi is a player that doesn’t get much national recognition but certainly knows how to run an offense and manage a game.

While the Arizona Wildcats have gone 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog and 6-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record, I like the Iowa Hawkeyes to deliver a message in this contest as they’ve posted a spotless 5-0 ATS record in their last five games against a team with a winning record while also going 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a favorite.

One of the reasons I don’t have a lot of confidence in the Arizona Wildcats is the fact that they’ve gone 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and just 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against Big Ten opponents.

While the Hawkeyes have recorded a stellar 4-1 ATS mark in their last five games, the Wildcats have struggled to cover the spread recently, going just 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.

In addition to playing the Wildcats in this contest, I also like the Under as it has gone a perfect 4-0 in Arizona’s last four games overall and 13-3 in Iowa’s last 16 non-conference games.
