NCAAF Free Picks Analysis – Mississippi Rebels Host Auburn Tigers in SEC Showdown

The struggling Auburn Tigers (4-4 SU, 1-7 ATS, 3-5 O/U) have dropped three straight games and four of their last five overall.

The Mississippi Rebels (4-4 SU, 4-3 ATS, 4-3 O/U) squeaked by the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road on Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak for members of the BetUS online college football sports betting community.

Both .500 teams will be gunning for a victory in the BetUS Sportsbook on Saturday when they meet at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Auburn was shut out in the second half of their 34-17 loss at West Virginia in Week 9, failing to cover the spread as 3-point road underdogs.

Quarterback Kodi Burns completed 13 of 21 passes for 111 yards with one touchdown and one interception while rushing for an additional 82 yards and one touchdown in the loss.

The Tigers offense managed to gain just 33 total yards in the second-half and have lost three straight games for the first time since 1999 in head coach Tommy Tuberville’s first season.

“We just didn’t have an answer the second half,” Tuberville said. “Pat White and Noel Devine had great speed. We couldn’t stop the run with the four-man front. We couldn’t tackle. Then we started blitzing and turned some receivers open.”

Auburn’s run defense was also a problem as they allowed West Virginia running back Noel Devine to rush for 207 yards and one touchdown on just 17 carries

Mississippi quarterback Jevan Snead completed 14-of-27 pass attempts for 209 yards with a pair of touchdowns and one interception, but the Rebels nearly lost to Arkansas after giving up two fourth quarter touchdowns to Arkansas in their 23-21 win on Saturday. Mississippi failed to cover as 6.5-point road favorites.

Mississippi Rebels -6½ -110

Analysis: The Auburn Tigers have a boatload of problems right now, but the fact of the matter is that the Mississippi Rebels aren’t much better than the Tigers even in the midst of some of Auburn’s biggest troubles in recent memory.

I like the Rebels to win this game simply because they are playing at home, but the cover in the contest goes to the Tigers, who also have a legitimate shot at winning outright.
