Houston Texans Try To Get First Win on Road against Jaguars

I’m going to give my beloved BetUS NFL bettors some sound advice before I even get into the body of this article.

The Houston Texans (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS, 2-0 O/U), are in big trouble!

The bad news for Texans backers is that their season only gets worse this week when they hit the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS, 1-2 O/U), one of my top AFC title contenders this season.

Jacksonville is coming off a thrilling 23-21 win over the Indianapolis Colts that the team won on Josh Scobee’s 51-yard field goal with four seconds remaining

“That thing was drilled,” Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said. “It would have been good from 65 yards.”

The huge win allowed the Jaguars to avoid a dreaded 0-3 start that would have put a postseason appearance in jeopardy even at this early juncture of the regular season.

David Garrard went an uninspiring 16-for-22 for just 167 yards with one interception and no touchdowns, but the Jaguars’ powerful rushing attack saw Fred Taylor pick up 121 yards on 26 carries and Maurice Jones-Drew to rush for another 107 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown.

Jacksonville’s powerful defense limited Colts quarterback Peyton Manning to just 15-of-29 passing for 216 yards with one TD and two interceptions,

The Texans failed to give their Hurricane Ike-ravaged fans an emotional boost in getting routed by the Tennessee Titans 31-12 despite getting inside the red zone six times.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak wasn’t pleased with is team’s failure to get the ball into the end zone despite their repeated trips inside the 20-yard line.

“You can’t come in a place like this and do that. We had our chances in the first half to make some big plays. We were poor on third down and missed some third downs. Overall, we were poor in the red zone,” he said.

Tennessee sacked struggling starting quarterback Matt Schaub three times and picked him off three times to boot.

Houston did have a spot of good news as rookie running back Steve Slaton rushed for 116 yards on 18 carries with one touchdown and a 50-yard run.

Here is a look at the key trends for each team, followed by my analysis and NFL Free Picks.

The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Jacksonville.
The Texans are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 meetings.

NFL Odds

Houston Texans +7½ -110
Jacksonville Jaguars -7½ -110

Over 42 -110
Under 42 -110

Analysis: Simply put, the Texans are going down in this contest! I fully expect the Jaguars’ powerful rushing attack to overwhelm the overmatched Texans defense, much like the Titans did last week. The Jaguars know they need this game in the worst way – and they’ll get it emphatically.
