NCAA Odds Football Picks – Hurricanes Travel To Pittsburgh To Face Panthers

The Miami Hurricanes have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks. After opening the year with great expectations, the Hurricanes opened with a dominating shutout win over Florida A&M 45-0, but were stuffed the following week by the number-two ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 36-24 in a game that set head coach Randy Shannon completely off.

Shannon ripped in to his team for the loss, but the news about the coaches tirade was almost immediately knocked down a peg, replaced by news about racial taunts both Shannon and quarterback Jacory Harris had received, predominantly through Twitter.

The Hurricanes will look to put the football betting headlines in their rearview mirror with a big week four match up, traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers in the second of three straight games on the road.

Pittsburgh suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss at Utah week one, but bounced back with a victory over New Hampshire in their home opener.

NCAA Handicapping: What Miami Will Have To Do To Win

After a nearly flawless performance in their season opener against Florida A&M, the Hurricanes took a step back in the loss to Ohio State, as Harris struggled mightily while Miami as a team could not avoid the type of penalty troubles that keep good teams from being great.

The junior quarterback was absolutely awful against the Buckeyes, throwing four interceptions on 39 pass attempts, and missing a couple of more targets as Ohio State brought the heat from the edges. Harris and the rest of the Miami offense will have to be much better in week four to avoid another crushing loss.

The Hurricanes had the week off to regroup, and should be rested and ready for the college football betting challenge.

NCAA Handicapping: What Pittsburgh Will Have To Do To Win

Pittsburgh opened the preseason ranked in the top-15 overall, but a crushing overtime loss on the road to Utah knocked them out of the national rankings. The Panthers’ best players have not performed to their potential so far this season, and it will be key for defensive end Greg Romeus among others to step up his play and deliver when head coach Dave Wannstedt calls on him to produce.

Pittsburgh may have been caught napping week one, but it will be on them to avoid the same sports betting problem against Miami.

NCAA Handicapping: Outlook & Pick

There is a bit of a rivalry between these two schools, with their head coaches longtime friends and former co-workers.

The Hurricanes have won six in a row against the Panthers dating back to 2003, but these teams haven’t faced off since then after Miami left the Big Ten. Pittsburgh has just one win in their last 11 games against ranked opponents from outside the NCAA betting conference, and that trend should continue this weekend.
