The Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles began the 2010 NFL season against one another at Lincoln Financial Field and after this Sunday afternoon’s showdown, only one of these team’s season will continue. Kickoff for this Wildcard Round playoff game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and it will be broadcast nationally on FOX.

Green Bay was at the top of many people’s list to go to the Super Bowl this season, but the road to just get into the playoffs has been a bit more bumpy than expected. The Packers finished the regular season at 10-6 straight-up (9-7 against the spread) which was only good enough to get into the postseason tournament as the sixth and final seed.

They started the season on a strong note with a 27-20 win over Philadelphia as a three-point road favorite but battled some peaks and valleys along the way, needing a 10-3 win over Chicago in the final regular season game to secure a playoff spot.

None the less, Green Bay comes into this game with some lofty credentials on both sides of the ball. QB Aaron Rodgers leads an offense that finished the year ranked 10th in scoring and ninth overall. Rodgers was ranked seventh in the league with 3,922 passing yards and had an overall passer rating of 101.2.

The Packers defense rose to the occasion down the stretch and finished the year ranked fifth overall and second in points allowed; giving up an average of just 15 per game. Clay Matthews led the way with 54 solo tackles and finished fourth in the league in sacks with 13 ½.

You could say that Green Bay is partly responsible for Philadelphia’s success this year. QB Michael Vick got his first real chance to play since coming back to the NFL after the Packers knocked starter Kevin Kolb out of the season-opener and the rest is history. Vick went on to lead the Eagles to the NFC East Division title and an overall record of 10-6 SU (7-9 ATS). NFL Betting

Along the way he threw for 3,018 yards and 21 touchdowns while adding another 676 yards with his legs. He also made full use of all the weapons around him by consistently coming up with big plays to WR’s DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin or getting the ball into the hands of RB LeSean McCoy.

There is little question that this team can put a lot of points on the board in a hurry. The Eagles led the NFC with 27.4 points per game and were second in the league in total yards per game with 389.4 per game. The real question heading into the postseason is can their defense elevate its game after finishing ranked 12th overall and 21st in points allowed?

Green Bay is 3-2 ATS in its last five road games and 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of its last five games.
Philadelphia is 2-3 ATS in its last five games at home and 4-4 ATS in its last eight games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of its last 10 games.

Head-to-head, the Eagles have won five of the last seven meetings SU and are 3-2 ATS, but the Packers have won the last two games both SU and ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in the last four games.

This game could be déjà vu for the Packers after coming out on the wrong end of last year’s 51-45 shootout against Arizona in the playoffs. The Eagles have found ways to score points on the best defenses they have faced and Green Bay should have little trouble scoring quite a few as well.

The ‘over’ is the obvious pick in this game, but take Green Bay to cover the points in a one or two point thriller that could go either way.

The Pick: Green Bay +2 ½ and OVER
