NFL Free Picks Analysis – One-Loss Teams Take Field as Steelers Host Giants

The New York Giants (5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS, 4-2 O/ U), bounced back from their resounding Monday night defeat to the Cleveland Browns by beating the San Francisco 49ers 29-17 on Sunday to narrowly cover as 10-point home favorites in the BetUS Sportsbook just as I predicted last week.

New York may not be so lucky this week as they hit the road to face the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-1 SU, 3-3 ATS, 4-2 O/U), who pounded the Cincinnati Bengals 38-10 to cover as 9-point road favorites, also making my selection in the BetUS Locker Room a winner for BetUS NFL wagering fanatics everywhere.

Quarterback Eli Manning had a mediocre game, going 16-of-31 for just 161 yards, but running back Brandon Jacobs scored two touchdowns despite gaining just 69 yards on 17 carries.

The Giants were helped by three San Francisco turnovers, including two picks from Niners quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan who spent much of the game fleeing from the Giants’ terrific pass rush, but still endured six sacks.

“We’re happy to be at 5-and-1,” said Manning. “Today our defense played well. That’s football and you’re going to go through all sorts of situations. It’s all about finding ways to win, to gut it out. That’s what we did.”

Another weak offensive performance against the Steelers could result in another resounding loss as the Steelers enter this game firing on all cylinders after routing the lowly Bengals in Sunday.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 17 of 28 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns but it was backup running back Mewelde Moore who really torched the Bengals, rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.

Pittsburgh’s league-leading defense pounded Bengals quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jordan Palmer unmercifully, recording seven sacks on the day.

The Steelers are ranked either first or second in every meaningful defensive category.

Analysis: I won’t get into a long-winded analysis of this game for BetUS NFL bettors. I’ll just say that the Steelers are clearly the correct pick, particularly with this point spread being just under the classic ‘field goal’ game of three points.

With the way the Giants are playing offensively – and the way the Steelers are playing defensively – it’s easy to see the Steelers walking away with an easier-than-expected win in this game.

Eli Manning is in trouble this week!
