Cappers Raiders vs. Saints Betting Trends + Pick

Preview and Week 6 NFL cappers matchup tips for this week’s Oakland Raiders and the New Orleans Saints matchup, plus an NFL Betting Preview, a look at the gambling trends, plus a free pick

Dysfunctional Raiders Visit Self-Destructive Saints

Why anyone would want to coach the dysfunctional Oakland Raiders (1-3 SU, 2-2 ATS, 3-1 O/U), these days is beyond me, but new head coach Tom Cable is clearly in over his head with a franchise that is totally ‘lost in the sauce.’

While the New Orleans Saints (2-3 SU, 3-2 ATS, 4-0-1 O/U), aren’t in nearly as bad of shape as the Raiders, the Saints have shot themselves in the foot on numerous occasions this season, including several times in Monday night’s 30-27 loss to the underachieving Minnesota Vikings.

Now, both clubs will be trying to pick up a win in the BetUS Sportsbook on Sunday when they square off in the Louisiana Superdome.

The Raiders have had plenty of time to prepare for this contest after getting a bye in Week 5, but have lost their last two contests, the most recent being a dismal 28-18 defeat at the hands of the San Diego Chargers on Sept 28.

Young quarterback JaMarcus Russell threw for 277 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss, but was sacked four times. The Raiders also saw their solid running game get stuffed to the tune of 72 total yards on 23 carries with first round draft pick Darren McFadden picking up just 20 yards on seven carries.

The Saints looked like they had a solid victory in their grasp on Monday – before they turned into Santa Claus and gave the Vikings an early Christmas gift with several inexplicable miscues to lose with just 13 seconds remaining on Ryan Longwell’s 30-yard field goal.

Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 330 yards and one touchdown but negated those fine numbers by throwing two picks and losing one fumble.

“It’s probably one of the weirdest games I’ve ever been involved in,” Brees said. “Just the way this thing kind of went back and forth. I’m trying to digest it all right now and in the end it’s a loss.

New Orleans ruined a fantastic performance from running back Reggie Bush who totaled a whopping 269 yards of total offense all by himself and tied an NFL record with two punt returns for touchdowns.

While the Raiders are ranked third in rushing yards per game, (155.0), Oakland is also ranked 29th in passing, averaging just 155.5 yards per game through the air. Oakland is allowing more points per game, (25.2) than they are averaging, (19.5).

While New Orleans is first in passing yards per game, (325.8) and seventh in scoring, (27.6 ppg), the Saints couldn’t stop a team of Octogenarians defensively as they are ranked in the bottom third in almost every meaningful defensive category, including total yards, (24th) and scoring, (26th).

Analysis: Despite their lack of defense, BetUS NFL bettors can bank on the Saints not only winning this game, but covering the spread simply by outscoring the Raiders in this contest.

Take the Saints to cover the spread while sending this total Over the 47-point O/U total by allowing the Raiders to get in the end zone a couple of times as well
