Preview and Week 14 NFL cappers matchup tips for this weeks New York Jets vs. San Francisco 49ers matchup, plus an NFL Betting Preview, a look at the gambling trends, plus a free pick…

NFL Picks – Brett, Jets, Look to Bounce Back Against Rejuvenated Niners

The New York Jets (8-4 SU, 7-5 ATS, 7-4-1 O/U) were surprised in their last contest, getting routed by the Denver Broncos 34-17 while failing to cover the spread as 7.5-point home favorites in the BetUS Sportsbook. The San Francisco 49ers (4-8 SU, 5-7 ATS, 7-5 O/U) have won two of their last three games and look rejuvenated for NFL sports betting backers as they have covered the spread in three of four under new head coach Mike Singletary.

On Sunday, both teams will look to pick up a victory when they meet at Candlestick Park.

Quarterback Brett Favre completed 23 of 43 passes for 247 yards with an interception while failing to throw a touchdown pass in the loss. Veteran running back Thomas Jones rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries.

New York allowed Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler to throw for 357 yards and two touchdowns while also giving up 129 rushing yards and one touchdown to running back Peyton Hillis.

“I was really disappointed with the way that we played today,” head coach Eric Mangini said. “We’ve established a certain way to play football around here. We’ve established a certain identity and this wasn’t even close to that.”

“We just didn’t show up like we were supposed to today,” Jets running back Thomas Jones said.

The 49ers are coming off a convincing 10-3 win over the Buffalo Bills, covering the spread for NFL sports betting backers as a 7-point underdog last week. Quarterback Shaun Hill completed 14 of 23 passes for 161 yards with one touchdown for San Francisco, while running back Frank Gore rushed for 66 yards on 24 carries in the win.

“Right now, it’s all about us being the best we can be,” said second-year linebacker Patrick Willis. “If that means somebody else not making it to the playoffs, that’s for them to worry about.”

“It’s big to come into an environment like this and win a football game,” said veteran linebacker Takeo Spikes. “Then, you add on top of it they’re a potential playoff team, closer than ever. This really shows our true character.”

NFL Odds

New York Jets -4 -110
San Francisco 49ers +4 -110

Over 44½ -110
Under 44½ -110

Analysis: While the 49ers are playing solid football at the moment, I don’t think this pick requires much guesswork from NFL betting buffs.

The Jets know they need this win in the worst way to help their postseason chances and will get it behind Favre and the rushing of Thomas Jones while covering the spread with room to spare!
