Sunday Dec. 6 1:00 PM ET

Simply put, NFL betting enthusiasts, Sunday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles (7-4 SU, 6-5 ATS, 8-3 O/U) and Atlanta Falcons (6-5 SU, 7-4 ATS, 7-4 O/U) has the possibility of turning out to be the best matchup of the week.

Michael Vick makes his return to his former home and there will be a lot of pre-game hoopla surrounding No. 7.

The Eagles and Falcons are both fighting for a postseason berth in the crowded NFC and will be looking to build some momentum off their respective victories in Week 12.

Philly 411

Eagles are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss.
Eagles are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 vs. NFC.
Eagles are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 road games.

The Eagles have won two straight games coming into tonight’s matchup but aren’t real happy campers after struggling mightily against Washington last week.

The Eagles defeated Washington 27-24 but failed to cash in for pro football betting backers as a 10-point home favorite in Week 12.

Donovan McNabb passed for 260 yards with a touchdown and one interception while DeSean Jackson caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.

The Birds have won four of their six games overall, going 3-3 TS during the stretch but will be without elusive running back Michael Westbrook because of injury.

Starting wide receiver DeSean Jackson may also sit out due to a concussion.

Hotlanta 411

Falcons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss.
Falcons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Falcons are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

The Falcons defeated Tampa Bay 20-17 in Week 12 but didn’t cover the game’s moneyline as a 13-point home favorite, for good reason. Atlanta saw quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Michael Turner and offensive lineman Harvey Dahl all go down with injuries.

Ryan will sit out this game with a turf-toe injury and Turner and Dahl are questionable. Veteran backup Chris Redman passed for 243 yards with two touchdowns in place of Ryan.

The Falcons have gone 3-2 against the spread over their last five games and a solid 6-4 over their last 10 games overall.

Analysis: The bottom line for this matchup for me is the fact that the Falcons will be without Matt Ryan. Atlanta will sorely miss him too as Philadelphia gets after the immobile Chris Redman with its various blitz packages.

The Eagles have won six of the last seven meetings against Atlanta including two postseason victories while also going a bankroll-boosting 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings.

More key trends pointing to a Philadelphia win and cover, are the fact that the Birds have gone 3-1-1 ATS in their last five meetings in Atlanta while the favorite in this series has gone an impressive 5-2 ATS in their last seven meetings overall.

Atlanta won’t go down easily as they’ve gone a perfect 5-0 at home this season while winning eight straight dating back to last season. The home team in this rivalry has gone a consistent 5-2 ATS in their last seven games.

The Falcons will also have a new place-kicker this week after releasing Jason Elam and replacing him with longtime veteran Matt Bryant.

Donovan McNabb has also been on fire lately, playing nearly error-free football for the last few games and Philadelphia has another gifted big-play receiver in rookie Jeremy Maclin.

Take the Birds to win and barely cover this 6.5-point NFL points spread in the BetUS Sportsbook.

For bettors that may want to play the O/U total for this game. Keep in mind that the Under has gone 4-0 in the last four meetings between these NFC rivals in Atlanta and 5-0-1 in the last six meetings overall.
