Beleaguered Bengals Looking For Consecutive Wins Against Wounded Eagles

The Cincinnati Bengals (1-8 SU, 3-6 ATS, 3-5-1 O/U) have had a ‘worst-case’ season so far NFL sports betting fans. Starting quarterback Carson Palmer has been a non-factor this season, getting hurt and lost to the team nearly seven weeks ago and things have been pretty ugly.

However, the Bengals can say something coming into this matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles (5-4 SU, 6-3 ATS, 4-5 O/U) that their opponent can’t!

When Cincinnati plays host to the Eagles this week, they can at least say they are coming in off of a victory.

The Eagles proved they were in a different class than the New York Giants in their 36-31 home loss in the BetUS Sportsbook on Sunday while the Bengals had a bye in Week 10 after recording their first win of the season by shocking the inconsistent Jacksonville Jaguars 21-19 at home, on Nov. 2 in Week 9.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21 of 31 passes for 162 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the surprising win while running back Cedric Benson added 104 rushing yards and one touchdown on 24 carries.

The Bengals sacked Jaguars quarterback David Garrard three times and intercepted him once while simultaneously shutting down the Jaguars rushing attack, limiting Maurice Jones-Drew to just 33 yards on 10 carries and veteran Fred Taylor to juts 12 yards on five carries.

The Eagles picked up a heartbreaking loss to the Giants, watching their three-game winning streak come to and end while not being able to make a big play when it counted most, late in the fourth quarter.

Veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb completed 17 of 36 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns, but Philadelphia’s defense couldn’t stop Giants blossoming signal caller Eli Manning or bruising running back Brandon Jacobs as the pair combined for three New York touchdowns.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid failed in a big way to utilize elusive running back Brian Westbrook properly, getting, arguably the game’s best dual threat skill player, just 13 carries for 26 yards and three pass receptions for 33 yards.

Analysis: Despite playing on the road in this contest, and the fact that the Bengals suddenly found some fight against an inconsistent Jaguars team two weeks ago, I like the Eagles to bounce back from their loss to New York in a big way as they will undoubtedly be in a foul mood following their loss, by routing the Bengals.

I like Philadelphia to come back with a solid effort in this matchup while narrowly covering the spread against a game Bengals team. Take the Birds and the Over in this contest and you won’t go wrong on either selection.
