NFL Week 5 Betting – Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS, 3-1 O/U) will undoubtedly be in a foul mood when they host the Cincinnati Bengals (3-1 SU, 2-1 ATS, 3-1 O/U) in an NFC North division matchup at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday at 1 PM ET.

The Ravens lost to the New England Patriots 27- 21 in Week 4 thanks to two phantom roughing-the-passer penalties that help the Patriots score two touchdowns and were none too pleased about it afterward.

“Without totally going off the wall here, it is embarrassing to the game,” a usually animated Ray Lewis said demurely after his team’s loss to the Patriots. “(Tom) Brady is good enough to make his own plays. Let him make the play. When you have two great teams that are going at it, let them go at it. Both of their touchdown drives had personal fouls that kept drives alive. Did that win or lose the game? No, but it got them 14 points.”

Joe Flacco completed 27-of-47 passes for 264 yards passing with two TD passes and an interception for Baltimore in its loss as Baltimore failed to cover the game’s NFL betting odds as 3-point road underdogs and the final score played Over the 44-point Over/Under total in the BetUS Sportsbook.

The Bengals were lifted to a 23-20 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 4 as Shayne Graham booted a 31-yard field goal in overtime.

The Bengals failed to cover the NFL betting odds as a 6-point road favorite while the game’s 43 combined points played Over the 37.5-point O/U total.

Analysis: While the Cincinnati Bengals come into this contest with a fine 3-1 SU mark, the fact of the matter is that outstanding quarterback Carson Palmer has had to bail the Bengals out in each of the last two weeks with absolutely fantastic fourth quarter finishes, something I just don’t see happening against a talented – and angry – Ravens defense this week.

While the Baltimore Bengals have gone a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four games as an underdog and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall, Cincinnati has also gone a dismal 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and will be facing a Ravens team that has gone a spotless 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a favorite and 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games overall.

The Ravens are the pick here despite a fairly high spread as they’ve shown a nice ability to bounce back from a loss by going 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss while the favorite in this series has gone a consistent 6-2 ATS in their last eight meetings.

More trends that point to a Ravens win and cover are the fact that the home team has gone 5-2 ATS in their last seven meetings while the Bengals have recorded an uninspiring 3-9 ATS mark in their last 12 meetings in Baltimore.

Take the Ravens with their improved offense – and ticked off defensive players – to win and cover.
