NCAA Basketball Betting – Longhorns, Spartans In Top-25 Showdown

Before College Football Gambling fans turn their attention to other sports betting events this week, we have a Wednesday NCAA game of the day pick for you. It’s time for our weekly basketball picks for online ncaa hoops betting action.

NCAA football betting players have watched Texas go through one of their worst seasons in recent memory, and they’ll be hoping that the basketball program can pick up the slack for their gridiron counterparts when the Longhorns head to East Lansing to meet up with Michigan State on Wednesday night.

Texas Michigan State Betting – Wednesday, December 22nd, 7:00 PM ET

Cory Joseph hit a jumper with 1.4 seconds left on Saturday to give the No.25 Longhorns (9-2) a 78-76 win over North Carolina in Greensboro, and he formed a high-powered backcourt with Jordan Hamilton as the two combined for 45 points. Hamilton had a team-high 24 points along with 10 boards, while Joseph added 21 points for the Longhorns, who shot 44.1% from the field while holding North Carolina to 43.9%. There wasn’t a lot between these two teams, and this was a big win for the young Longhorns in a hostile environment against a talented North Carolina squad. Online football betting players will be hoping that the basketball program will rub off on the football team in Austin.

The No.15 Spartans (8-3) didn’t even need suspended coach Tom Izzo in a 90-51 thrashing of Prairie View A&M on Saturday, as Michigan State were up 15 by halftime and then smothered the Panthers. Durrell Summers had a game-high 25 points, while Draymond Green had 11 points and eight boards, and Kalin Lucas added 10 points and eight assists for the Spartans. Michigan State shot 50% from the floor, and they dominated the Panthers, holding them to 32.7% from the field, including 5-of-19 from three-point land, and they outrebounded Prairie View A&M 40-30. Izzo was suspended because of a secondary NCAA rules violation, but it doesn’t sound like it was a big deal, and the Spartans went along with their business.

Betting services will likely favor the Spartans at home, and these two have met six times since 1999, splitting them SU as well as ATS (five of the six have been non-conference games, while the 2003 meeting came in the NCAA Tournament). Many people think Texas is a perimeter team, but they’re sixth in the country in rebounds, and Hamilton may be the difference as he is hitting the glass hard this year. The Spartans are only 57th in rebounding and that has to irk Izzo, who will be a maniac on the sideline after missing the last game. We’re giving the edge to the Spartans at home because of their advantage in East Lansing, and we’re betting on Izzo to outcoach Texas counterpart Rick Barnes, who is far better as a recruiter than he is as an Xs-and-Os kind of guy.

Online sports betting pick: Michigan State
