Week 9 is almost in the books – it took until the afternoon games before we got to see some superb offensive efforts. There were some standout performances this week and as always there were some seriously substandard ones.

Below is a breakdown of all of the stars and all of the flops for Week 9 in Dave B’s Week 9 version of the Studs and Duds list.

Studs of the Week:

Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – Insane! This dude should just change his name – Stud Rodgers doesn’t sound so bad! On Sunday, Aaron completed an incredible 21 of 26 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a terrific 52 yards on the ground in an uber-impressive performance against the Chargers.

Vincent Jackson – San Diego Chargers – Jackson finally had a decent game after three underwhelming weeks. He had 7 catches for 141 yards and three touchdowns (two in the fourth quarter) to help his team almost come back against the Packers. Jackson is finally a Stud!

Other Studs:

QBs

Matt Moore – Miami Dolphins – that’s right, Moore was a Stud this week! Moore led the Dolphins to their first win of the season against a good Kansas City team. Moore completed an incredible 17 of 23 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns on the afternoon.

Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons – Matty Ice threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday in an easy win over Indianapolis. Ryan was a Stud on Sunday – a good sign going forward for the Falcons.

Tim Tebow – Denver Broncos – I know, I don’t like him that much either! But Tebow had an astounding 117 yards rushing on Sunday which is impressive enough. He added 124 yards passing and two touchdowns in a win over heated rivals – the Raiders. His passing numbers are bad but his rushing numbers make him a Week 9 Stud!

Honourable Mention: Philip Rivers, Andy Dalton, Tony Romo

RBs

Willis McGahee – Denver Broncos – Welcome back to the lineup Willis! On Sunday McGahee ripped the Raiders defense for 163 yards and two touchdowns. It was nearly worthy of Stud of the Week honours but not quite!

Arian Foster – Houston Texans – Surprise! Foster had another 150 combined yards on Sunday – 124 rushing and 26 receiving. He added a score to claim his spot on the Stud list.

Marshawn Lynch – Seattle Seahawks – Seriously? Seriously! Lynch rumbled for 135 yards and a touchdown against a tough Dallas run D. Lynch gets the nod as the most improbable Stud of the week!

Honourable Mention: DeMarco Murray, Ben Tate, Steven Jackson, Michael Bush, Reggie Bush

WRs

Brandon Marshall – Miami Dolphins – Marshall had eight catches for 106 yards and a touchdown on Sunday to help his team to its first win. Marshall should be a Stud every week but makes a rare appearance on the list. [ad-8469823]

Julio Jones – Atlanta Falcons – Jones has missed a few weeks but he returned this week and made the absolute most of the few touches he had. Jones caught only three balls but parlayed them into 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Wes Welker – New England Patriots – Welcome back to the Stud list Wes! On Sunday, Welker was dominant once again in a 9 catch, 136 yards effort against the Giants. Too bad his hard work didn’t result in a win!

Honourable Mention: Rob Gronkowski

Duds of the Week:

Matt Schaub – Houston Texans –  Schaub continues to disappoint Fantasy owners. On Sunday in a game that his team scored 30 points, Schaub threw for just 119 yards, ZERO touchdowns and one interception. C’mon Matt, you are killing us!

Beanie Wells – Arizona Cardinals – Ugly, ugly game for Wells. He had 10 carries for 20 yards on the afternoon. Wells delivered a Dud with a thud!

Other Duds:

QBs

Matt Cassel – KC Chiefs – Cassel was a waiver wire pick-up this week and a sleeper in most people’s eyes. Cassel managed decent yardage (253) but he failed to throw a touchdown in a very winnable game for the Chiefs – Dud!

Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams – After sitting out a couple of weeks with an ankle injury, common belief was that the Arizona Cardinals brutal defense would welcome Bradford back with open arms. Instead, they made it difficult – just 255 yards, ZERO touchdowns and one interception on the afternoon.

RBs

With great pleasure I announce that there were no other RB Duds to speak of this week. Rashard Mendenhall barely saved himself with a touchdown on Sunday night. Great week Running Backs!

WRs

Chad Ochocinco – New England Patriots – If you watched the game, you would have seen how out of sync that Chad is with Tom Brady. He was targeted five times and didn’t even come close to catching one ball. Ocho is a complete and total Dud this season – he is not just a one-week Dud!

Jacoby Jones Houston Texans – Like Schaub, it hard to believe that in a game that your team scored 30, there were no passing numbers to speak of. 2 catches for 28 yards on Sunday was another in a long line of Duds for Jones!

Jon Baldwin – KC Chiefs – How many of you picked him up and started him based on Monday night’s performance? 1 catch for 12 yards had you screaming at your TV!
