Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Week 8 NFL waiver wire plus fantasy football lineup tips to help decide who to start or bench on your fantasy football team…

WAIVER WIRE WEEK 8

This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. Dave B scours the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best available talent every week. Availability, of course, depends on the league. We’re using 12 team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes and sizes.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our cheatsheets, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Week 7 is done and now it is time to look at what might improve your team for Week 8. There are definitely some players on the Waiver Wire that were Gold last Week and could be for Weeks to come.

Here, then is Dave B`s Week 8 Waiver Wire!

QBs

Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions – Stafford should return from injury this week and act as a great QB2 on your Fantasy team. Detroit is an emerging offense with an easy schedule the rest of the way. If he was dropped, he deserves to be picked up immediately.

Matt Moore – Carolina Panthers – Moore reclaimed his starting job this week and what a job he did. He passed for over 300 yards in Week 7 and did it largely without the help of Steve Smith. I’m not saying that he’s a legitimate starter, but he’s a player to monitor for sure.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Buffalo Bills – 373 yards and four touchdowns against the Ravens defense? Insane! Fitz has a lot of confidence and plays on a team that will be throwing the rest of the way. I hope that you are not picking him up to start but as a backup of a matchup QB, he may not be bad.

Others to Monitor: Jason Campbell – Oakland Raiders, Tavaris Jackson – Minnesota Vikings, David Carr – San Francisco 49ers

RBs

Darren McFadden – Oakland Raiders – Just in case someone dropped him in your league, pick him up NOW! He had nearly 200 combined yards and four touchdowns in Week 7. He’s a complete Stud and an every week starter.

Kenneth Darby – St. Louis Rams – Steven Jackson is banged up again – finger surgery this time. If he misses any time Darby figures to get almost all of the Rams carries. He’s a decent handcuff anyway.

Willis McGahee – Baltimore Ravens – Every year, McGahee emerges as a snake to Ray Rice’s production. In Week 7, Willis had 11 touches for 74 yards and a touchdown.

WRs

Kenny Britt – Tennessee Titans – If you haven`t heard of him yet, you must have been in a hole on Sunday. Britt exploded for 225 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday and is worth a roster spot in every league. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

David Gettis – Carolina Panthers – Gettis took advantage of single coverage (Steve Smith was being doubled all game long) to the tune of eight catches, 125 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. Will it happen again – my guess is no, he should be OK in PPR leagues.

Steve Johnson – Buffalo Bills – We told you about this guy a few weeks ago but now he is firmly on the Fantasy Radar. On Sunday, he had eight catches, 158 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. The Bills are going to have to be a throwing team and Johnson should be the beneficiary.

James Jones – Green Bay Packers – Jones appears to be on the verge. He definitely has Aaron Rodgers` trust and is being targeted often and in crucial situations. With Finley out for the season and Donald Driver nicked up, Jones is worth a deep roster spot.

Others to Monitor – Jordan Shipley – Cincinnati Bengals, Jason Avant – Philadelphia Eagles, Brian Hartline – Miami Dolphins

TEs

Todd Heap – Baltimore Ravens – After a few injury plagued years, Heap has slipped under the fantasy radar but he has re-emerged in a huge way. If Heap is available, he could be your every week starter. On Sunday, he had 59 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Brody Eldridge – Indianapolis Colts – With Dallas Clark gone for the season, somebody has to pick up the slack. Eldridge is a big body that could be that guy. If you are a gambling man, you could do worse.

Others to monitor – Michael Hoomanawanui – St. Louis Rams

Defense

Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks defense has been on a tear this season. They are generating their share of turnovers and are getting to the quarterback. They play Oakland this week and although the Raiders looked good in their last game, they are still good for a few turnovers. Seattle`s defense is good!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Tampa defense has been generating almost two turnovers per game. This week, they play against a St. Louis team that is giving up five times per game and one that looked absolutely terrible in Week 7.
