Week 6 is nearly in the books. Finally some preseason Studs showed up and made the list (Schaub, Bowe and Jennings). Some frequent Studs this season also fell to the Duds column, some due to injury and some due underwhelming play.

Stud of the Week:

Jeremy Maclin – Philadelphia Eagles – Maclin had an absolutely enormous game and picked up the slack for DeSean Jackson who left the game with an injury. He had seven catches, 159 yards and two touchdowns on his way to being named Stud of the Week.

Other Studs:

QBs

Kevin Kolb – Philadelphia Eagles – Take your time healing Mr. Vick! Kolb was a monster this week despite missing one of his most dangerous weapons (DeSean Jackson). Kolb passed for 326 yards, three touchdowns and an interception on the day.

Matt Schaub – Houston Texans – Finally Schaub justified his high draft position. He led the Texans to an incredible come-from-behind win against the Chiefs. Schaub was 25/33 for 305 yards and a touchdown in Week 6.

Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – Rodgers was highly questionable to play this week after sustaining a concussion last week. 313 yards passing and a touchdown along with a key rushing touchdown prove not only that Rodgers is OK but that he is also a Stud.

Honourable Mention: Matt Cassel – New York Jets, Peyton manning – Indianapolis Colts

RBs

Ahmad Bradshaw – New York Giants – Bradshaw continues to be a workhorse this season and although he didn’t get into the end zone, he did manage to rumble for 133 yards on 19 carries. When the Giants needed a 1st down, he was there to get it for them – Stud!

Arian Foster – Houston Texans – Foster didn’t generate huge numbers in Week 6 (97 combined) but he did score two enormous touchdowns for the Texans. Foster is as reliable as they come right now, and is therefore a Stud.

Frank Gore – San Francisco 49ers – A lot has been said about the Niners poor start but we haven’t heard a peep out of Gore. That’s what a Stud does – shuts up and plays ball. It also helps when you gain 149 yards on the ground!

Honourable Mention: Joseph Addai – Indianapolis Colts

WRs

Calvin Johnson – Detroit Lions – Shoulder injury? What shoulder injury? Megatron made five catches for 146 yards and a touchdown to keep the Lions looking respectable this season. Johnson played with his third quarterback this season and still looked great!

Andre Johnson – Houston Texans – That’s more like it Andre! Johnson came up huge in Week 6 grabbing eight balls for 138 yards and a touchdown. Expect to see Johnson in the Stud column a lot from here on!

Greg Jennings – Green Bay Packers – ditto for Jennings! He’s been basically invisible for the past four weeks but was large an in charge on Sunday. Six catches, 133 yards and a touchdown make Jennings a long awaited Stud!

Honourable Mention: Dwayne Bowe – Kansas City Chiefs, Brandon Marshall – Miami Dolphins, Mike Williams – Seattle Seahawks

Duds of the Week:

Hakeem Nicks – New York Giants – Three catches for eight yards! Honestly! If you were playing against him this week, congratulations! You played against a Dud of the Week.

Miles Austin – Dallas Cowboys – Wow – didn’t see this one coming! Two catches for 12 yards for one of the Top 5 receivers in the NFL is simply horrible. I have no more words!

Other Duds:

QBs

Brett Favre – Minnesota Vikings – This whole game was a bit of a DUD but Favre continues his steady run on the Dud list. After last week, Brett looked poised for a break out. How does he reward his owners – 118 whole yards passing in Week 6. One touchdown is little consolation for the all-too-familiar Dud

Jason Campbell – Oakland Raiders – Bruce Gradkowski made the Raiders look like a decent offensive team but Campbell set them back to the preseason. Not that you would have started him in Week 6 but 83 yards passing and two interceptions is just embarrassing.

RBs

Jahvid Best – Detroit Lions – Ugh – just when we thought that Best was ready to make a statement he puts together a game like this – 16 yards on 12 rushes. 31 yards on six catches salvaged his day slightly but only slightly.

Michael Turner – Atlanta Falcons – Turner has been Hot and Cold this season and unfortunately in Week 6, he was cold. Turner was held to 45 yards on 15 carries for the Falcons.

Michael Bush – Oakland Raiders – Bush could have really made a statement and held on to the starter job for Oakland. Instead, Bush managed only 47 yards on 20 carries against a San Francisco team that had been vulnerable against the run.

Honourable Mention: Matt Forte – Chicago Bears, Cowboys RBs, Tampa Bay RBs.

WRs

Kevin Walter – Houston Texans – Was Walter even on the field in Week 6? Many started him this week after a couple of solid outings. He was totally shut out on Sunday and may just find his way back to Fantasy benches.

Donald Driver – Green Bay Packers – Driver has looked like the most reliable Fantasy receiver for Green bay this season and with Jermichael Finley out, most thought that Driver would have a great week. Three catches for 31 yards was all that Driver could muster however.

Duds with an asterisk: Antonio Gates ( 2 catches 12 yards) and Malcolm Floyd (2 catches 15 yards) – San Diego Chargers – Both were injured but were still duds!
