Week 4 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Week 4 NFL waiver wire plus fantasy football lineup tips to help decide who to start or bench on your fantasy football team…

WAIVER WIRE WEEK 4

This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. Dave B scours the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best available talent every week. Availability, of course, depends on the league. We’re using 12 team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes and sizes.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our cheatsheets, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Week 3 is done. The byes start to go into effect next week. It is officially time to look for that one week gem while your Fantasy starter is on their bye. There are some interesting options – ones that could potentially help you going forward.

Take a look at Dave B’s Week 4 Waiver Wire and good luck finding that gem!

QBs

Chad Henne – Miami Dolphins – He was a super sleeper early in the season but Sunday night’s effort against the Jets has him firmly on the radar. 363 yards, two touchdowns and an interception are great numbers, especially against the Jets.

Kyle Orton – Denver Broncos – He hasn’t had a bad game yet and has turned a no-name receiving crew into a formidable force. He is near the top in terms of Fantasy production among quarterbacks – a fine one or two week replacement for sure!

Mark Sanchez – New York Jets – I wasn’t convinced last week but I am now. He managed three touchdown passes versus the Dolphins and looked to be in total command of the offense.

Others to Monitor: Rory Fitzpatrick – Buffalo Bills, Bruce Gradkowski – Oakland Raiders

RBs

Payton Hillis – Cleveland Browns – He has won the starting job in Cleveland with efforts like the one on Sunday. How many of your starting running backs had 170 combined yards and a touchdown on Sunday? All of that came against the mighty Baltimore Raves.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis – New England Patriots – He is clearly the most gifted runner on the Pats. He’s the reason that Maroney was expendable. Green-Ellis will emerge on a good offensive team.

Kenneth  Darby – St. Louis Rams – If Steven Jackson misses any time, and the Rams decide to pass on Larry Johnson, Darby will see a lot of touches for the emerging St. Louis offense.

Others to monitor: Larry Johnson – Free Agent – Could sign with St. Louis this week. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

WRs

Lance Moore – New Orleans Saints – He will be a sought after name after a six catch 149 yard, two touchdown performance this week. Don’t expect the same production every week of course but he’s a decent pickup.

Louis Murphy – Oakland Raiders – There is absolutely no doubt about who the best receiving option on the Raiders is. Murphy is the go-to-guy and 119 yards receiving on Sunday is further proof.

Joshua Cribbs – Cleveland Browns – He led the team with eight targets, with five catches and 58 yards on Sunday. Word has it that the Browns will do everything possible to get Cribbs the ball more. I think it’s a good idea.

Others to Monitor – Davone Bess – Miami Dolphins, Jabar Gaffney – Denver Broncos, Danny Amendola – St. Louis Rams

TEs

Aaron Hernandez – New England Patriots – I’ve been telling you for weeks and I am telling you again. He’s a stud and is entering every week starter status.

Tony Moeaki – Kansas City Chiefs – ditto!

Kevin Boss – NY Giants – many of you dropped him when he was injured but he’s back. 88 yards receiving on Sunday is proof.

Others to monitor – Ben Watson – Cleveland Browns

Defense

Indianapolis Colts: With Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis going against Jacksonville and Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis is a good bet to have a couple of good weeks at least.

Seattle Seahawks – This unit is averaging over two sacks per game, had five takeaways against San Diego and have Leon Washington returning kicks. A Steven Jackson – less Rams are up next (then the bye!)
