NFL Week 3 Fantasy Football Tips – Waiver Wire Week 3

This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. Dave B scours the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best available talent every week. Availability, of course, depends on the league. We’re using 12 team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes and sizes.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our cheatsheets, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Without wasting any more of your time, here is the Week 3 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup List, for the NFL games going on this week (Week 3). The waiver process is used to bolster a Fantasy team. It can be used to attain depth for a fantasy roster or to replace an injured roster player.

No shortage of Waiver Wire Goodness this week. There are some players that could legitimately contribute on a Fantasy roster. Who’s this year’s Steve Slaton? Seems that this could be the “year of the pass catcher”, and therefore the Waiver Wire is riddled with receiver.

Quarterbacks are few and far between – in the average 12 team draft, 17-20 of the top QB’s are already on a roster. Mostly, you are picking up this player for depth or ONLY as a bye-week fill-in. RB’s are similar- in most leagues – 40 of the most desirable already have a home. WR’s are where the money will be made this week.

Grab the following before NFL Week 3. Here we go!

QB’s

Trent Edwards – Buffalo – Has the team off to a 2-0 start! OH WAIT!!! 1-1 start. Looks pretty good and seems to have a pretty good command of the game. Good for a couple of TD’s per game and he is not afraid to rush the ball either.

Seneca Wallace – Seattle – Filled in pretty well for the injured Hasselbeck, who sustained a fractured rib injury in the game. Ribs are painful and as Donovan McNabb has proven that they have potential to keep you out a while. Wallace still has weapons and he has been in the system for years.

Other to monitor: Byron Leftwich – On a bad team that will be forced to throw.

RB’s

Justin Forsett – Seattle – Looks to me like another Leon Washington – a guy who totally changes the game when he’s in there. He’s a little guy that can hide under his O -line and he can catch passes too! Julius Jones and Edge are not EVER gonna get it done in Seattle – time to try another RB approach. Afterall, look what Mora did for Warrick Dunn.

Others to monitor – Correll Buckhalter – Denver – looked good in his touches

WR’s

Mario Manningham – NY Giants – Undoubtedly the most sought after Free Agent this week. 10 catches, 150 yards and a td makes it 2 straight weeks he has scored. Someone has to absorb the Plax catches and Manning is dialed in right now.Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com Teams are committing to stop the run, leaving lots of room for the receiver to do their thing.

Laurent Robinson – St. Louis – Has emerged as the #1 option for the Rams for what that’s worth. He’s getting the targets, the catches and even broke through with a TD this week. The Rams are going to be down in a lot of games folks – they will have to throw a ton. You could do far worse than grabbing a #1 receiver on a team.

Mike Sims-Walker – Jacksonville – Good game this week and with the lack of tangible talent as WR in Jacksonville, Sims-Walker has the potential to emerge and become Gerard’s five. He’s got Houston, Seattle, and St. Louis coming up before their Week 7 bye.

Johnny Knox – Chicago – 2 decent games in a row – seems to have the trust of Jay Cutler who can make a WR look very good. The rookie has potential to be Chicago’s Eddie Royal – a play maker capable of breaking the BIG ONE!

Julian Edelman – New England – Most are referring to him as mini – Wes Welker. Look folks, anyone who plays in the slot with Brady throwing the ball is going to get the looks. I’m just sayin……….. If he’s in there, he’ll be productive.

Others to monitor – Brandon Stokely and Jabar Gaffney – Denver – Good games this week and Orton has to develop a rapport with someone – why not these 2?

TE’s

Derek Schouman – Buffalo – Got a bit dinged this week but if he’s good to go – he could be this year’s Owen Daniels. Of his 9 catches this season, 6 have been for 1st down. Great safety valve for the Bills Offense.

Defense

Denver – Looked pretty solid against some suspect offenses. This week they get the Raiders – nuff said!!!
