Week 2 Fantasy Football Injuries

Well it’s nearly Week Two in the NFL and we look at the NFL injuries effecting teams as they gear up for week 2 of the NFL season.

Week Two in the NFL is All about Injuries

This is Week 2 of the NFL Season and already the injury bug has changed the fortunes of many teams. It’s important to note that each team in the NFL plays 16 games and only 16 games. That means that a single win, or loss, could impact a team’s entire season.

With the advent of free agency, injuries have become even more important as team’s are finding it difficult to replace their starters with capable back-ups.

For online sportsbook betting fans, injuries always impact the bottom line. That’s just the way it is. It changes the online betting line and therefore affects how NFL betting fans approach the week.

Let’s get to some of the more impactful injuries and take a look at them from an online wagering point of view.

Tom Brady is out in New England. This one has been beaten to death, of course, but its impact on the Patriots’ game this weekend versus the New York Jets has been huge. The BetUS online sportsbook betting opened with the Patriots has a 2 ½ point underdog. The Pats are now a 1 ½ point underdog.

The one point shift points towards the Pats getting play from online betting fans. I agree. I like the Pats to win this game straight-up. Randy Moss and Wes Welker will give new quarterback Matt Cassel everything he needs to be successful.

Shawne Merriman is out in San Diego. The Chargers were stupid to let Merriman try and play on a bum knee. Now that he’s truly out the Chargers’ defense should be exposed for what it is – – overrated. I love the Broncos in this game. They’re only giving up a point and a half and are actually underdogs on the money line at + 105. That’s a terrific online bet in my mind.

Marques Colston is out in New Orleans. The Saints took a serious blow when their best wide receiver had to get surgery on his thumb. Colston is out for about a month. The Saints have enough weapons to get by and coach Sean Payton will put together a terrific game plan. The Saints are 1 ½ point underdogs on the road versus the Redskins.

The online football betting odds say Redskins, but not by much. I like the Saints because Reggie Bush is more committed this season, you can see it in his eyes, and David Patten is underrated as a reliable pass catcher. Then there’s Jeremy Shockey at tight end who should figure prominently in the offense until Colston gets back.

Vince Young is out in Tennessee. The Titans might actually play better than expected with Vince on the bench. For all of his physical talents, he hasn’t progressed as much as coach Jeff Fisher expected him to. I like Vince as a player. Heck, he seems like a real cool dude, but Kerry Collin is a capable back-up and that kid they drafted at running back, Chris Johnson, is phenomenally fast. The Titans are 1 point favorites in the BetUS online sportsbook to beat the Cincinnati Bengals on the road this weekend. This could be the online bet of the week. Johnson will run all over that Bengals’ D.

Jeff Garcia is out in Tampa Bay. How serious is this? Incredibly serious. Brian Greise is the back-up. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped their first game to New Orleans in week one and now must take on a resurgent Atlanta Falcons team at home. Don’t get me wrong, the Falcons shouldn’t move the ball with regularity against that Buc’s D, but without Garcia the 7 point online betting spread that BetUS is offering looks like a gift. I’m taking the Falcons unless that betting line drops.

Marion Barbers is hurt in Dallas. So what? Seriously. Barber has bruised ribs. They aren’t broken. He’s going to play. The bigger issue for Dallas this Monday night will be stopping that Donovan McNabb passing attack. Dallas will put up some points, but so will the Eagles. The online betting odds have the Cowboys as a 7 point favorite at home. You have to like the Eagles, right?
