HOT AND NOT WEEK 16

If you are in need of a HOT fantasy football player these Top Hot players for the week should help you out if they’re in your lineup. They may also be free agents on your waiver wire.

If you need to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS should be them. Throw em in the trash if you can afford to not have them on your bench. Fantasy Football always favors the prepared mind.

The more research you do, and the more HOT players you have to choose from on your team, the better your odds are of winning your fantasy football league outright this year.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our waiver wire column, studs and duds, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Week 16 is upon us folks and for some Fantasy Leagues, it Championship Week.

Congrats if you are in, Sorry if your not.

Chances are that if you are still battling for the title, you own a few on the HOT list and if you’ve been eliminated, you undoubtedly own a few of the NOT players.

So this is the Week 16 edition of Dave B’s Hot and Not list.

HOT

Tony Romo – Dallas – Romo’s December demise was greatly exaggerate. In the 3 games in December, Romo has tossed 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He has thrown for over 300 yards in 2 of those 3 games. Add in the fact that Romo guided his team toward the improbable (a win against the undefeated Saints) and there’s no doubt that Romo is HOT.

Matt Schaub – Houston – Schaub is HOT not only because he’s averaged 366 yards passing over his last 2 games, but also because of the fact that he’s played every game this season. The oft injured Schaub has all the Stud tools and is using them to his best ability.

Philip Rivers – San Diego – Has thrown for over 300 yards in 3 of his last 4 games, leading the Chargers to their impressive December run. 8 touchdowns over that span leads us to the conclusion that Rivers is HOT.

Drew Brees – New Orleans – 14 touchdowns and 2 interception in the last 5 games – honestly!!! Brees has averaged almost 350 yards passing in his last 4 and remains the HOTTEST QB in the NFL. Brees might take a seat during the last 2 games though – the Saints already have Home Field advantage locked up.

Jamaal Charles – Kansas City – Charles is doing the impossible right now – giving Chiefs fans something to look forward to in 2010. He’s scored in 5 straight games, and is catching the ball out of the backfield frequently. He’s the NFL’s newest all around back and is destined to be a 1st rounder in next year’s Fantasy Drafts.

Chris Johnson – Tennessee – Johnson hasn’t been under 100 yards rushing since Week 5!!! It’s true. He is undoubtedly the Fantasy MVP this year and his pass catching ability only cements his place as the best Fantasy option in the land.

Jonathan Stewart – Carolina – All World DeAngelo Williams has been battling injury of late – the Carolina running game must be struggling – right? Wrong!!! Stewart has picked up the slack and has done a more than admirable job carrying the rushing load. Stewart even managed 109 yards rushing against the impenetrable Minnesota Defense. For that reason, Stewart is HOT.

Ray Rice – Baltimore – The Baltimore Ravens are contending for the playoffs once again, and they can thank 1 man – Ray Rice. Remember Willis McGahee or LeRon McClain? They have been rendered irrelevant by Rice who has possessed running ability, but also has 71 catches on the year. In a PPR league, Rice has been HOT all year.

Andre Johnson – Houston – Is there a HOTTER WR in the NFL right now? The answer is NO!! He has scored 3 times in his last 3 games and in his last 2 games, he’s averaging 10 catches and almost 195 yards receiving. Incredible!!!

DeSean Jackson – Philadelphia – Seems to be the most undefendable Wide Receiver in the NFL. He’s been averaging 6 catches, 159 yards and a touchdown in his last 2 games after a scary injury. He’s potent on Offense and equally dominant on Special Teams. Jackson can do no wrong right now – he’s HOT.

Vincent Jackson – San Diego – After a “slump” only a few weeks ago, Jackson has reestablished himself as one of the better Wide Receivers in the NFL. 2 straight game with 100+ yards receiving and 2 touchdowns in Week 15 has Jackson on the HOT list once again.

Dallas Clark – Indianapolis – Dallas Clark owners are probably gearing up for their respective Fantasy title games. Clark has helped his owners scoring 5 touchdowns in the last 2 games. He has 12 catches and 138 yards over that span. Clark is HOT.

NOT

Brett Favre – Minnesota – December hasn’t been good to Favre over the last couple of seasons and this year is no different. 1 touchdown in 2 games with 2 interceptions over that span has skeptics wondering if the old man has finally hit the wall. Chicago is up next – all should be fine with Brett don’t you think?

Jay Cutler – Chicago – Oh boy!!! Where to start. Cutler has simply been awful – it looks like he doesn’t even care. His lack of Receiving weapons is well documented, but c’mon. In Cutler’s last 6 games, he has thrown5 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He’s NOT HOT folks, and potentially rivaling his teammate Matt Forte for Fantasy Dud of the Year.

Matt Hasselbeck – Seattle – The Seahawks are finding new lows each and every week. Week 15 saw them lose to the 1 win Buccaneers. Hasselbeck threw 4 interceptions in that game – if he can’t get it done against Tampa – he’s NOT HOT.

Houston Rbs – How’s the Arian Foster Waiver Wire pickup workin for ya? The Running backs are garbage in Houston and frankly I’m sick of them.

Atlanta RB’s – Since Michael Turner went down with injury, the Atlanta running game is a shell of itself. Jason Snelling and Jurious Norwood have the rushing attack in Atlanta NOT HOT.

New Orleans Rbs – I have no idea how so much talent in such a high powered Offense could be so unproductive. Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell aren’t getting anything done. They are NOT HOT.

Terrell Owens – Buffalo – Seems like a long time ago that TO went on his tear doesn’t it? In his last 3 games, Owens has 7 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown combined. Brutal!!!!

Calvin Johnson – Detroit – Its obvious that Johnson isn’t the same player without Matthew Stafford at QB. He now has to depend on Dante Culpepper and Drew Stanton to get him the ball. The situation stinks and Johnson is NOT HOT.

Roddy White – Atlanta – We’ll give him a pass for last week’s performance (4 catches for 33 yards against All-World cornerback Darrelle Revis), but White only had 2 catches a week earlier. Don’t worry too much Roddy, you’ve got Buffalo and Tampa Bay left on the schedule.

Roy Williams – Dallas – I love beating up on this guy. He sucks.
