Fantasy Football: Week 14 Waiver Wire

Week 14 NFL waiver wire plus fantasy football lineup tips to help decide who to start or bench on your fantasy football team…

Week 14 Waiver Wire

Fantasy playoff time! The Waiver Wire becomes especially important this week – there is a need to replace some injured stats and there is a need to bolster your lineups for the most important time of the year.

There are definitely some intriguing options on the Wire this week. Take a look, choose carefully and Good Luck in your Fantasy playoffs!

QBs

Dan Orlovsky – Indianapolis Colts – Orlovsky completed an astounding 81.1% of his passes against New England for 353 yards and two touchdowns. He will continue to be Indy’s QB likely for the rest of the season and appears well suited for the job. Orlovsky does have a tough Baltimore defense next week so beware!

Josh Johnson – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Who knows about Josh Freeman’s availability for next week. The season is basically over for the Bucs so there is no reason to chance further injury. On Sunday Johnson passed for 229 yards and a touchdown while leading his team in rushing as well (45 yards).

Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings – Ponder has been flying under the radar but if you are absolutely stuck, you could do worse than Mr. Ponder. He threw for 381 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 13 and he runs the ball too. I’m just sayin’.

Others to Monitor: Donovan McNabb

RBs

Marion Barber – Chicago Bears – Matt Forte left Sunday’s game early and will likely be out for 2-4 weeks. Barber rushed 14 times in relief on Sunday for 44 yards – not great but not bad either. If he is a confirmed starter, Barber could be in line for 15-20 touches per game – a valuable waiver wire target.

CJ Spiller – Buffalo Bills – I recommended a wait and see approach on Spiller after Fred Jackson went down with injury and Sunday’s effort is reason enough to go out and pick him up. He rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on Sunday and added 19 yards on 3 receptions. He had 17 touches on Sunday – not many waiver wire targets can say that!

Ryan Grant – Green Bay Packers – James Starks was questionable for the Week 13 game, started and left early leaving Grant as the primary ball carrier. Grant appears as though he will be the man going forward for the Packers unless Starks is able to make a miraculous recovery.

Others to Monitor: Maurice Morris

WRs

Golden Tate – Seattle Seahawks – Sidney Rice has been placed on Injured Reserve leaving Ben Obomanu, Mike Williams and Tate to pick up the slack. Tate was the star against Philadelphia and he could be going forward. With a strong running game in Seattle, the passing game should see some more room down the stretch. Maybe wait and see on Tate but don’t wait too long – someone else might snatch him up.

Brad Smith – Buffalo Bills – Injuries at WR for the Bills has opened the door for Smith. In the last two weeks, Smith has a total of 149 yards and a touchdown and has become Buffalo’s most effective receiver. [ad-8469823]

Johnny Knox – Chicago Bears – Knox followed up his Week 12, 4 catch 145 yard one touchdown effort with 5 catches and 53 yards in Week 13. Knox is definitely Caleb Hanie’s favourite receiver and with Hanie under center for the foreseeable future, Knox could be valuable.

Demaryius Thomas – Denver Broncos – It is hard to believe that Thomas will be able to repeat his Week 13 effort anytime soon but he will be a hot name on the Waiver Wire this week. Consider the fact that Tim Tebow won’t throw a ton and that Thomas has only 103 yards on 7 catches before Sunday. Proceed with caution!

Others to Monitor – Brandon LaFell, Chaz Schillens, Riley Cooper

TEs

Jacob Tamme – Indianapolis Colts – Tamme has become a very reliable target for the Colts’ unflattering QBs. Tamme had 6 catches for 75 yards two weeks ago, 2 for 20 last week and had five catches for 49 yards in Week 13. Backup QBs tend to lean on Tight Ends and tame is a good one.

Ed Dickson – Baltimore Ravens – We know that Dickson will be involved in the offense on Sunday but what makes this pickup even more attractive is the matchup against Indianapolis. Dickson should do what he wants against one of the worst cover teams in the NFL. If you lost Fred Davis – take a look at Dickson.

Others to monitor – Zach Miller – Seattle Seahawks

Defense

Miami Dolphins – Miami plays the turnover prone Eagles this week. Michael Vick should return but before the injury he was throwing as many interceptions as touchdowns. Vick has also taken his share of sacks. They have averaged of 2.0 sacks and 1.75 interceptions per game over the last month.

Seattle Seahawks – Anyone playing the Rams is recommended but Seattle has been especially impressive lately. They have averaged 2.25 sacks, 2.0 interceptions and one fumble recovery per game in the last month. Did I mention that the Hawks have the Cutler and Forte-less Bears in Week 14?
