Whew!!  Another Week is coming to a close and we take time to celebrate the amazing performances that we all witnessed, while at the same time we lament the underwhelming efforts that had us scratching our heads.  There are some reoccurring names on the Studs list and there are some typical Studs on the Duds list this week.

Running Backs were front and center on both lists this week for some reason – the Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers really didn’t blow anyone out of the water.

Apologies to Matt Hasselbeck, Beanie Wells, Reggie and Michael Bush, LaDainlian Tomlinson, Anquan Boldin and Wes Welker for not making the Studs list – your efforts however, did not go unnoticed.

Without wasting any more of your time, here are the Week 10 Fantasy Football Studs & Duds plus key player stats for the NFL games that went on on this week (Week 10).

Stud of the Week

Chris Johnson – Tennessee – 2 straight weeks, and the third time this year that Johnson has been Stud of the Week!!!  He is simply ON FIRE right now.  Another 132 yards on the ground in Week 10 with 2 TD’s combined with 9 catches for 100 yards is absolutely NUTS. Might as well pencil him in for Stud of the Week for Week 11!

Dud of the Week

Vincent Jackson – San Diego – I watched this game and found myself wondering if Jackson was even in the lineup this week.  He managed 1 catch for 10 yard – and that catch came near the end of the game.  I was actually hoping for a goose-egg, but 1 catch for a consensus Top 5 Receiver is ugly enough to warrant the Dud of the Week title.

Other Studs

Peyton Manning – Indianapolis – Incredible game – incredible numbers.   What a Stud

Tom Brady – New England – Did all he could – 375 yards and 3 TD’s – Stud

Donovan McNabb – Philadelphia – This is not a typo – 450 yards passing!!!  2 TD’s and 1 interception. Insane yardage totals for sure.  Hey Donovan – your arm might fall off but at least I think that you are a Stud.

Kurt Warner – Arizona – 29/38 for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns lands Kurt on the Stud list for the 2nd week in a row.  With the weapons that he has at his disposal, he’d be a Dud if he didn’t pass for 300 yards.  Congrats Kurt!!

Brett Favre – Minnesota – Is Brett Favre having some fun right now or what???  He passed for 344 yards in Week 10.  Only 1 TD but his effort is still worth of the Stud column.

Frank Gore – San Francisco – Was the star of the Thursday Night snooze fest with 104 yards and 1 TD on the ground and another 21 yards on 4 catches.  Such Defensive games are usually Offensive to the Fantasy Football world, but 125 yards combined still makes Gore a Stud.

Steven Jackson – St. Louis – A man amongst boys in St. Louis, Jackson was relentless once again and actually held his team in a game that they were not supposed to be in.  131 yards and a touch on the ground along with 45 yards on 9 catches is a superb Fantasy day.

Adrian Peterson – Minnesota – All Day had his way with the Lions this week.  133 yards on only 18 carries with 2 TD’s makes Peterson Runner-up for the Stud of the Week.  Damn Chris Johnson!!!

Maurice Jones-Drew – Jacksonville – The little man keeps getting it done!! 145 combine yards and a TD in Week 10 continues Jones-Drew’s uber-hot streak of the last few Games.  Stud all the way!

Randy Moss – New England – Couldn’t be stopped – SCARY

Reggie Wayne – Indianapolis – 10 catches 136 yards and 2 TD’s – one the game winner.  Stud Stud Stud.

Brandon Marshall – Denver – Most of Marshall’s Week 10 damage happened in the 1st half, before Kyle Orton went out with an injury.  Marshall ended up with 134 yards and 2 TD’s on a day that the Broncos were shocked by the Washington Redskins.

Sidney Rice – Minnesota – Any questions about who Brett Favre’s favorite target is?  Rice’s 7 catch 201 yard performance in Week 10 should answer ALL questions and cement his place on this week’s Stud list.

TJ Houshmanzadeh – Seattle – Put up a HUGE game against the Cards in Week 10.  9 catches for 165 yards will get you mentioned as a Stud every time.

Jason Avant – Philadelphia – Benefitted from McNabb’s 450 yards passing big time!!!  Avant hauled in 8 passes for 165 yards.  Quite a Stud effort for a dude that probably will not end up here again, don’t ya think?

Other Duds

Jamarcus Russell – Oakland – I’m tired of beating up on this guy.

Carson Palmer – Cincinnati – Took part in one of the biggest Offensive letdown games that I can remember.  We were all waiting for the fireworks.  Instead, Palmer delivered 178 yards passing with no touchdowns.  Disappointing indeed!

Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh – Palmer’s counterpart in the “Offensive pillage in Pittsburgh” Big Ben seemed poised to keep his Hot streak going this week but instead, only managed 174 yards on 20/40 passing with no TD’s  Unfortunate that 2 of my favorite QBS delivered Dud performances in Week 10.

Drew Brees – New Orleans – Brees owners were licking their chops when they saw the Week 10 matchup against the St. Louis Rams.  What should have been a HUGE day for Brees turned into a 223 yard, 2TD, 2 interception Dud.

Rashard Mendenhall – Pittsburgh – Who besides me was riding the Mendenhall wave after his stellar performance last Monday night?  Don’t be shy – admit it.  How does he reward his faithful followers?  13 rushes for 36 yard and 1 catch for 5 yard.  Tisk tisk, Dudley!

Cedric Benson – Cincinnati – We really shouldn’t pick on this guy, but on the other hand, it’s good to recognize a Dud performance in order to keep a dude humble.  Are you listening Cedric?  Week 10’s 22 yard output was not good at all.  Pull up your socks man – we are all depending on you!!

Pierre Thomas – New Orleans – Thomas is another of the “Usual Studs” that put up a stinker this week.  He could only muster 37 yards rushing and 5 yards receiving in a game against the woeful St. Louis Rams.  Welcome to Dudsville Pierre – I hope that your stay isn’t that long.

Eagles RBS – Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy got taken out of the game early as the Eagles fell behind on the scoreboard.  Still, 35 yards between the is simply not good enough.  All Eagles that touched the ball out of the backfield should be considered Duds.

Cowboys RBS – So much for the Cowboys return to their dominant Rushing game.  Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice don’t seem to be getting it done for the Boys, putting up one disappointing effort after another.  62 yards rushing between 3 stellar backs is BAD!

Marques Colston – New Orleans – How the hell did the Saints win the game with Brees, Thomas, and now Colston in the Duds column?  2 catches for 17 yards and a fumble make it a clean Dud sweep for New Orleans’ most talented Offensive players.

Chad Ochocinco – Cincinnati – Chad is yet another player that was victim to one of the most boring games played this year.  After so much hype, and so much promise for an explosive Offensive showdown, the players let us down.  Case in point, Ochocinco’s 2 catch 29 yard effort.

Hines Ward – Pittsburgh – You get the idea now?  Everyone in the Cincinnati/Pittsburgh game was a Dud!  Hard to believe.  Thanks Hines for your 4 catch 24 yard effort.  Not smiling so much now are you?

Santana Moss – Washington – 2 catches for 8 yards?  You kidding me.  You are a Dud’s Dud Santana – someone that all aspiring Duds can look up to.

One reply on “Week 10 NFL Fantasy Football Studs + Duds”

As an Eagle fan I am still trying to figure out how did McNabb thow for 450 yards and 2 TD’s and they still lose the game.

3 field goals instead of TD’s, 2 of them when they had 1st and goal is the culprit.
