HOT + NOT For Week 8 Fantasy Football

Looking for Internet Fantasy Predictions then look no further than our Dave B our fantasy expert weighing in on weekly fantasy football topics for Week 8 action…

Hot and Not – Week 8

If you are in need of a HOT fantasy football player these Top Hot players for the week should help you out if they’re in your lineup. They may also be free agents on your waiver wire.

If you need to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS should be them. Throw em in the trash if you can afford to not have them on your bench. Fantasy Football always favors the prepared mind.

The more research you do, and the more HOT players you have to choose from on your team, the better your odds are of winning your fantasy football league outright this year.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our waiver wire column, studs and duds, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Welcome to Dave B’s Week 8 Hot and Not. Every week, we seem to see new entries into the Hot list but strangely, there a few repeat offenders on the Not Hot list. I hope that you have your share of Hot and your opposition has the Not Hot!

Enjoy the Week 8 Edition and by all means, leave a comment to let me know how you feel about the list!

Hot

QBs

Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – Big Ben is back baby! He has averaged 277 yards passing and has tossed five touchdowns since his return. Shootouts with New Orleans and Cincinnati are on the horizon so expect Ben to remain Hot.

Carson Palmer – Cincinnati Bengals – Palmer has thrown multiple touchdowns in his last three games and is averaging almost 331 yards per game during that span. He has also thrown seven touchdowns in his last three – so much for the talk about his demise!

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Buffalo Bills – Seriously! Fitzpatrick has passed for 11 touchdowns in the four games that he has started this season. He has done the impossible – make the Bills competitive. Four touchdowns last week against Baltimore alone make him Hot.

RBs

Ahmad Bradshaw – New York Giants – Bradshaw is Da Man in New York and if Brandon Jacobs keeps fumbling the ball, he will remain so. Bradshaw is averaging almost 130 yards per game in his last two and is as Hot as they come!

Frank Gore – San Francisco 49ers – Gore has been over 100 yards rushing in his last two games and he is adding a lot of yardage through the air to his totals. With Troy Smith starting for the next few weeks at quarterback, Gore will be leaned on heavily again. He’s all that the Niners have – he’s Hot.

Michael Turner – Atlanta Falcons – Turner was poor in Week 6 but in Weeks 5 and 7, he has combined for 261 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Tampa Bay is next on the schedule – cha ching!

WRs

Hakeem Nicks – New York Giants – We will give Nicks a Week 6 mulligan (3 catches, 8 yards). Other than that, since Week 4, Nicks has averaged 116 yards per game and he has scored four touchdowns!

Roddy White – Atlanta Falcons – Mr. White has only been under 70 yards once this season and has at least five catches in every game. In his last three games, White has 385 combined yards and three touchdowns – ya – he’s Hot!

Dwayne Bowe – Kansas City Chiefs – Bowe is smokin’ He has 189 yards combined in his last two games and he has scored four touchdowns! He’s Hot like Africa!

Mike Williams – Seattle Seahawks – Ditto for Williams! In his last two games, he has 21 catches for 210 yards and a touchdown.

Not Hot

QBs

Brett Favre – Minnesota Vikings – I’m not a hater – OK maybe just a little bit! Favre has averaged 200 yards passing in his last two games, has two touchdowns and three interceptions. He may be on the shelf a while to become even more Not Hot!

Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears – After a scorching start to the season “Bad Jay Cutler” has re-emerged! In his last three games, Cutler has thrown only one touchdown but has thrown five interceptions and has fumbled the ball three times. Ouch!

Kyle Orton – Denver Broncos – After an absolutely insane stretch of games, Orton has fallen back to earth just a little bit. In his last two games, Orton is averaging just 204 yards passing and 1.5 touchdowns – a far cry from his Hot days!

RBs

Rashard Mendenhall – Pittsburgh Steelers – Mendenhall appears to have regressed since Ben’s return. In the two games that Roethlisberger has started, Rashard has rushed for a combined 121 yards and one touchdown. Not bad, but I thought that Ben would bring brighter days to Mendenhall.

Cedric Benson – Cincinnati Bengals –Benson had a monster Week 5 but in the two games sandwiched around Week 5 he has a combined 130 yards on 35 carries with no touchdowns.

DeAngelo Williams – Carolina Panthers – Williams has averaged just over 60 yards per game this season and has scored only one touchdown. Now comes word that he has a sprained foot! He is certainly Not Hot.

Ryan Matthews – San Diego Chargers – Since Week 1, Matthews has not rushed for more than 64 yards. He only has one touchdown on the year so far. Matthews plays on a passing team and because of his weak blocking ability, he will likely remain Not Hot.

WRs

Larry Fitzgerald – Arizona Cardinals – Poor Larry – Max Hall is killing one of my faves! He has not scored in three weeks and last week, he caught only three balls for 30 yards!

Eddie Royal – Denver Broncos – After a superb Week 4, Royal has all but disappeared. In his last three games, Royal has a combined 9 catches for 94 yards and zero touchdowns. Time to drop him!

Miles Austin – Dallas Cowboys – Has anyone seen Miles Austin? In his last two games Miles has a combined five catches for 50 yards and no touchdowns. With Kitna at the helm for the foreseeable future, bets are that Austin remains Not Hot.
