HOT + NOT For Week 5 Fantasy Football

Looking for Internet Fantasy Predictions then look no further than our Dave B our fantasy expert weighing in on weekly fantasy football topics for Week 5 action…

HOT AND NOT WEEK 5

If you are in need of a HOT fantasy football player these Top Hot players for the week should help you out if they’re in your lineup. They may also be free agents on your waiver wire.

If you need to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS should be them. Throw em in the trash if you can afford to not have them on your bench. Fantasy Football always favors the prepared mind.

The more research you do, and the more HOT players you have to choose from on your team, the better your odds are of winning your fantasy football league outright this year.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our waiver wire column, studs and duds, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Enjoy the Week 5 Hot and Not list and by all means, leave a comment to let me know what you think!

Hot

QBs

Peyton Manning – Indianapolis Colts – Manning continues to be on fire despite his team’s floundering. Another 352 yards passing in Week 4 keeps him on the HOT list.

Kyle Orton – Denver Broncos – Orton has defied all odds this year and followed up a 476 yard Week 3 effort with 341 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4 – he’s HOT!

Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers – Rivers completed 75% of his passes in Week 4 and threw two more touchdowns. He has at least two touchdowns in every game this season. With Antonio Gates playing the way he is, expect Rivers to remain HOT!

RBs

Arian Foster – Houston Texans – Foster leads the NFL in rushing through the first four weeks of the season and is a threat to catch the ball too. He has at least 100 combined yards in all four games this season. He’s HOT!

LaDainian Tomlinson – NY Jets – LT has emerged and surpassed Shonne Greene on the Jets depth charts. He is running like a young man and is racking up yards rushing and receiving. Minnesota may present a few problems this week but still there is no denying that Tomlinson is HOT.

Peyton Hillis – Cleveland Browns – Hillis has scored in every game this season and is receiving at least 20 touches per game for Cleveland. If you drafted him – congratulations – he’s HOT.

Honourable Mention: Rashard Mendenhall – Pittsburgh Steelers

WRs

Antonio Gates – San Diego Chargers – Gates is fifth in the NFL in receiving yards and has six touchdowns on the season. He is by far the most reliable receiver for an HOT Philip Rivers.

Reggie Wayne – Indianapolis Colts – Wayne caught 15 passes in Week 4 – 15!!! With the lack of a serious running game in Indianapolis and with word of Austin Collie’s leg injury, Wayne will be the man in Indianapolis once again.

Brandon Lloyd – Denver Broncos – Lloyd has three 100 yard games so far this season and caught 11 balls for 115 yards in Week 5. Lloyd should remain HOT as long as Kyle Orton continues his strong early season play.

Honourable Mention: Hakeem Nicks -New York Giants, Eddie Royal – Denver Broncos

Not Hot

QBs

Alex Smith – San Francisco 49ers – One of the bigger disappointments so far this season, Smith has thrown just three touchdowns and seven interceptions. Yet another offensive coordinator is leading the 49ers offense this week against a good Philadelphia defense.

Matt Hasselbeck – Seattle Seahawks – 233 yards is his highest output this season. In the last two weeks, Hasselbeck has thrown only one touchdown and has two interceptions.

Derek Anderson – Arizona Cardinals – Anderson has been a bust and now is likely to surrender his starting job to Max Hall. Three touchdowns and five interceptions on the year make Anderson NOT HOT.

RBs

Brandon Jacobs – New York Giants – Ahmad Bradshaw is clearly the man in New York. Jacobs fumbling, inconsistency and attitude issues have made him a clear cut back up. Unfortunately, Jacobs is NOT HOT.

Brandon Jackson – Green Bay Packers – Jackson has gained just 74 yards in the three games since Ryan Grant’s injury. John Kuhn (Who????) is actually outgaining Jackson over that span.

Clinton Portis – Washington Redskins – Clinton Portis is injured – surprise!!! With the emergence of Ryan Torain in the Redskins backfield, Portis is likely to see a significantly diminished role – NOT HOT!

WRs

Steve Smith – Carolina Panthers – Smith had just 33 combined yards in two games prior to his injury. A high ankle sprain and the poor play of his quarterbacks make Smith one of the least HOT receivers in the game.

Mike Sims-Walker – Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jags scored 31 points in Week 4 and Sims-Walker was shut out. That marks the second time this season that Mikey has gone catchless!

Steve Smith – New York Giants – Not a good week to be named Steve Smith! Eli Manning appears to be focused on other toys and has largely gone away from Smith. Other than a Week 3 – 103 yard effort, Smith has yet to gain over 43 yards this season.
