If you haven’t already participated in your fantasy drafts, they are likely right around the corner. There are some big names that are destined to underachieve this season.

It is probably best to avoid these underachievers – the price will likely be high and the return will be low.

Stay FAR Away

1. Carson Palmer (QB, Bengals) – He just isn’t the same quarterback since coming back from various surgeries. You may be tempted because of Terrell Owens but Palmer hasn’t shown the ability to get anybody the ball.

2. Roy Williams (WR, Cowboys) – Williams still thinks that he is an elite talent. He can’t get open and when he does, he can’t hold onto the ball. With Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, Williams is a #3 option – with Jason Whitten he’s a fourth option in the passing game.

3. Steven Jackson (RB, Rams) – Injury prone and overworked! Jackson hasn’t played a full season since 2004 and chances are that the 30+ touches that will be required of him this season will be too much. The Rams are a bad team and opposing defenses will be focusing on Jackson – poor dude!! [soliloquy id=”82219″]

4. Redskins RBs – Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and Willie Parker – all players that are past their prime. Add the inventor of the Running Back By Committee, Mike Shanahan and none of the three are dependable.

5. Percy Harvin (WR, Vikings) – Could have been a breakout star this season if the stars aligned. Migraine issues and that fact that Tavaris Jackson is the Quarterback make Harvin someone to avoid.

6. Darren McFadden (RB, Raiders) – He has all the talent in the world but can’t stay healthy. He is sliding rapidly down the depth charts on his team and can’t be counted on.

7. Ben Roethlisberger (QB, Steelers) – Suspended for at least the first four games of the season. That should be reason enough to avoid him. The loss of Santonio Holmes and the uncertainty at Running Back are others.

8. Steve Slaton (RB, Texans) – Slaton had offseason surgery on his neck but has declared himself healthy. Don’t be tempted by his few good games last season. His team obviously has little faith in him – Ben Tate was drafted and will at very least steal away goal line touches.

9. Larry Fitzgerald (WR, Cardinals) – There are not many that have a whole lot of faith in Matt Leinart, myself included. Fitz might be OK but he is a big gamble on a team that lost their best player to retirement.

10. Lee Evans (WR, Bills) – He’s been inconsistent during his career but could be viewed as a high Fantasy Draft choice because he’s the unquestioned #1 WR on his team. The Bills are terrible and the quarterbacks throwing him the ball are simply awful.

Others to Stay Away From:

Brett Favre (assuming he returns), Kevin Walter (appears to be losing WR2 job to Jacoby Jones), Julian Edelman (Wes Welker will be back and healthy), Anthony Gonzalez (way too many weapons for Peyton Manning)

How about it, owners? Email me your thoughts or comment below! Hope you enjoyed my list of players that you should let other teams draft in 2010?
