Super Bowl Week for many Fantasy Leagues is this week. It is a crucial week with a ton of quality matchups. Take a look at Dave B’s Week 16 Star and Sit – Fantasy Matchup, study hard and feel free to fire any questions my way – I will do my very best to get to each and every comment and/or question!

Good Luck this week!

Carolina at Pittsburgh 8:20 PM

If you are starting any Carolina Panther this week against Pittsburgh, I am truly sorry. If absolutely forced to pick one Carolina player to be at least decent this week, it would be Jonathan Stewart – that’s it! For Pittsburgh, I expect poor weather, making Ben Roethlisberger a bit of a risk. Expect 220 yards and a touchdown from him. Rashard Mendenhall will be a Stud this week for sure with Mike Wallace being a solid WR2 and a finally healthy Heath Miller being a good starting TE option. I am not sold on Hines Ward – he has been up and down and warrants a flex spot only this week. Of course start the Steelers defense!

Dallas at Arizona 7:30 PM

The Cowboys will have fun on Christmas day thanks to Arizona’s brutal defense. Don’t hesitate to start Kitna, Felix Jones, Tashard Choice, Miles Austin or Jason Witten. They will all be fine. For Arizona, the only reliable fantasy option is Larry Fitzgerald.

New England at Buffalo 1:00 PM

Tom Brady is as automatic as they come right now. Start him, Deion Branch, Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez with confidence this week. I also like BenJarvus Green-Ellis against Buffalo’s terrible run defense. I think the Bills will be playing from behind, making Ryan Fitzpatrick an OK option this week and Steve Johnson a WR2-WR3 option. We all saw what Matt Flynn did to this defense last week! Stay away from Buffalo’s running game – they have been far too inconsistent to warrant a Fantasy start!

NY Jets at Chicago 1:00 PM

This game has defensive struggle written all over it! For the Jets, the only reliable option is the defense! I am not sure who will be the WR stud this week – Holmes and Edwards appear to cancel each other out! I am staying away from both running games in this one. For Chicago, Jay Cutler scares the crap out of me but in a pinch, he could be OK. Greg Olsen is an OK play as is Johnny Knox. There is not a great Fantasy option on the Bears except for the defense!

Baltimore at Cleveland 1:00 PM

I like Joe Flacco in this game a lot. The Browns are going to have to respect Ray Rice making it easy for Flacco to pick Cleveland apart. Ray Rice is a great option –  not only will he find some room rushing, but he will get his share of receiving yards as well! Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason are good plays in this one as well, along with the Ravens defense. For Cleveland, Peyton Hillis had success in the teams’ first meeting and I expect the Browns to ride him again. Expect good, but not spectacular numbers from him. Ben Watson is the only pass catcher I trust for Cleveland – Colt McCoy trusts him and looks his way often.

Tennessee at Kansas City 1:00 PM

Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt are automatic in this game and that’s it for Tennessee. For Kansas City, Jamaal Charles has to be in your lineup and if you are stuck for a flex, Thomas Jones could be used. Dwayne Bowe has been quiet lately – use him but temper your expectations. Tony Moeaki is a TE1 this week, but that’s not saying a whole lot!

San Francisco at St. Louis 1:00 PM

There is nobody off the 49ers roster that jumps off the page. Vernon Davis was brutal last week but deserves a start based on his upside. Michael Crabtree in a WR3-WR4 this week and an emerging Josh Morgan could be a deep sleeper this week. Same goes for the Rams – there is nobody that I love in this game except for maybe Steven Jackson. Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson could be OK in PPR leagues but are huge risk – I wouldn`t use them!

Detroit at Miami 1:00 PM

Shaun Hill looks like he will return at quarterback for the Lions. He is an OK option, but is a mid level QB2 at best! You have to have Calvin Johnson in your lineups and Brandon Pettigrew could be an OK TE option this week. Stay away from the Detroit running game. The Miami Dolphins may surprise in the game. Although they have been awful at home I think a few are worth a look. I like Ronnie Brown to score in this game along with Brandon Marshall making them startworthy. Davone Bess is a low end WR3 in my rankings.

Minnesota at Philadelphia 1:00 PM

The news out of Minnesota suggests a “check back and see” approach this week. I’m staying away from all except for maybe Visnathe Shiancoe who will be Joe Webb’s outlet. The news isn’t good on Adrian Peterson and with the season already sunk, they may opt to sit him. Stay away from the Vikings if you can. Philadelphia, on the other hand is all systems go. Start Vick, McCoy, DeSean Jackson Jeremy Maclin and even Brent Celek this week along with the Eagles defense.

Seattle at Tampa Bay 1:00 PM

I trust nobody on the Seahawks except for Mike Williams – period! The Tampa players are all intriguing starts against Seattle’s brutal defense. Josh Freeman could be used in a pinch while LaGarrette Blount and Mike Williams are fine starting options. Kellen Winslow is a Top 12 tight end this week and Arrelious Benn is a sleeper – use him if you are a gambling man!

Washington at Jacksonville 1:00 PM

I actually like Rex Grossman this week after what I saw last week. He could fill in admirably for you but only if you are desperate. Ryan Torain should find some room as well this week. Grossman’s play has given new life to Santana Moss and Chris Cooley who are legitimate starts this week. Even Anthony Armstrong looks like a low end flex! For Jacksonville, David Gerrard will be OK this week (but you are probably not using him – right?). Maurice Jones-Drew will be a man on a mission after last week’s disappointment and quietly Marcedes Lewis has become a very reliable Tight End! Use him without hesitation! Mike Sims-Walker and Mike Thomas appear to be cancelling each other out – there is simply not enough passing yardage to go around!

Houston at Denver 4:05 PM

Arian Foster looks like a go on Sunday. He is an automatic start along with Matt Schaub. Andre Johnson will be shadowed by Champ Bailey – start him but temper your expectations! Owen Daniels is a good start and Kevin Walter has finally emerged as a decent flex. Jacoby Jones may get open for a score as well but unless you are in a deep league, he is best left on the bench. With Tim Tebow starting again in Denver, the offensive performance is a total crap shoot. I am not starting anyone on the Broncos except for Brandon Lloyd who should be able to break free from the awful Houston secondary.

Indianapolis at Oakland 4:05 PM

Everybody for the Colts warrants some consideration. Peyton Manning is automatic as is Reggie Wayne and Jacob Tamme. I am starting Pierre Garcon as well although I think that he and Blair White cancel each other out a little bit. Many will think about Donald Brown after last week but I am not so sure he can put together two enormous games in a row. For Oakland, Darren McFadden has to be started and Zach Miller is the only other Raider that I trust. If you think that Jason Campbell and Jacoby Ford are startable – go ahead but don’t get pissed at me on Monday!

NY Giants at Green Bay 4:15 PM

Green Bay has a great defense and it showed when they slowed the hottest offense in the league last week. Still, you have to roll with Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Kevin Boss for sure. If you don’t have another quality QB, there’s no shame in starting Eli Manning. The news out of Green Bay is good – Aaron Rodgers should start and you should follow suit. Greg Jennings becomes automatic again and James Jones becomes a very interesting flex option. I still can’t get a handle on the Packers running game and would steer clear if possible. Both defenses are risky in this game but the Packers should be able to generate a turnover or two or three.

San Diego at Cincinnati 8:20 PM

Never bench Philip Rivers OK? Vincent Jackson will be a Stud this week and Malcolm Floyd could have a decent game as well. The running game is a tossup but I would not hesitate to use Mike Tolbert as a RB2 or flex. Randy McMichael is also a quality start. I don’t trust ant Bengal against the league’s best defense but Jermaine Greasham and Cedric Benson should be just OK this week. Start the Chargers defense of course!

New Orleans at Atlanta 8:30 PM

This game has the makings of a shootout. Start Brees as always, Colston and Lance Moore as well. Tight End Jimmy Graham is in every-week start territory now and Robert Meachem could pay dividends as a flex. Stay away from the Saints running game –  too confusing! Matt Ryan at home has been money and should be started along with Michael Turner, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez. All of the usual Studs will produce in this game – I can’t wait!

pick 2: colston, roddy white, calvin johnson
Pick 1: cowboys D, titans D, browns D,any other waiver wire sleeper

Thanks for the help!

I play in a small league of 8 teams and I happen to have Chris Johnson, Jamaal Charles and Rashard Mendenhall. I can only start two. I can’t see sitting Johnson. What I’m struggling with is Mendenhall and Charles. Which is the better start?

I have a Fantasy Football Question. Out of the following 6 players i can only start 5. Who would you bench this week 16. Ahmad Bradshaw, Greg Jennings, Lagarrett Blount, Andre Johnson, Lesean McCoy, or Mike Wallace. Thanks for your help in advance. Championship on the line .

Ok – getting ready for my championship, having second guesses on whether to start Torain or Hillis and Branch or Nicks…..

This is for the Championship–any help would be greatly appreciated:

It’s not looking good for Peterson, but my other options are: (must start 2)
Ladanian Tomlinson
Jahvid Best
LaGarrett Blount

My other problem is who to start at Wide Reciever: (must start 2)
DeSean Jackson
Brandon Marshall
Dwayne Bowe
Pierre Garcon

Thanks for your help.

2 RB league: Jamaal Charles is one(obviously) and then which of the following should be my second rb, Fred Jackson, Brian Westbrook, or Donald Brown?

TE: Kellen Winslow or Kevin Boss?

In my championship!

Drew Brees or David Garrard?
Fred Jackson or Marshawn Lynch or Donald Brown or Ray Rice?
Greg Olsen or Benjamin Watson?
Bowe, Colston, Ochocinco, Fitzgerald, Crabtree?
Eagles or Falcons Defense?

Get back to me if you can, thanks

i have 1 wr spot left. who do i start?

v-jax, stevie johnson, or jeremy maclin

and 1 flex spot left

the wr above as well as torain or fred jackson

ppr league

thanks!

Joe, I would bench blunt this week.

Joe Rig, I would definately go with Hillis and most likely Nicks, but I have been wrong before.

Tony, Mendenhall has been consistent for me all year. However, I am in a PPR league and opt out of using him as much as I would normally.

I’m having WR trouble. Who do I start (with 2-3 starting spots available) out of these options: Lance Moore, Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, Santana Moss, Deion Branch, Anthony Armstrong?

Also, RB trouble: Cedric Benson, Danny Woodhead, Thomas Jones, Ryan Mathews, Mike Tolbert? 2 spots available

Thanks a lot man

I have need of a third starting wide receiver and a Flex player. The Flex can be a wide reiver or a running back. This is NOT a PPR leauge.
Mike Sims-Walker-Anthony Armstrong-Mike Thomas-Jacoby Jones-Donald Brown-Tim HighTower. Who is my 3rd Wide receiver and who is my flex?

Anthony P, Nice problem to have!

Believe it or not, I would probably sit Roddy White out of that list -something tells me that Michael Turner is going to be the scoring machine in that game.

If it were me, I would go Colston and Johnson but you can’t go wrong with any of those receivers.

Defense – the Cowboys have been terrible but they have a superb matchup against one of the worst offenses in the leage. Go with Dallas.

William,

Lance Moore is the far more reliable option in what is suree to be a shootout in Atlanta.

Kaeding shopuld rack up a few points for you too.

Tony, I can’t believe that I am saying this but I might start Charles and Mendenhall and sit Johnson! I could see the Titans/Chiefs game being a 13-10 score with each team getting less possessions because of the run heavy game plans.

You can’t go wrong with any – Mendenhall has to be in your lineups thoug – the Steelers will be up early and will likely run the whole 2nd half!

Dave B

Joe,

Out of your list, the two players I would think about benching are Bradshaw (against a very tough Packers defense) and Andre Johnson who is questionable with a sore ankle and will be matched up against Champ Bailey this week.

Tough call, but Bradshaw would be my choice.

Dave B

Joe Rigg,

Hmmm – tough choices!

At RB, I have to go with Hillis – he has the better chance to score and he will likely have 5 catches for 50 yards in the game. Torain isn’t a bad option either but Hillios’ pass catching clinches it for me.

At WR – I have Nicks and Branch very close in my rankings but Nick takes it because he will likely catch 7 passes to Branch’s 4!

Dave B

Eric,

Blount is automatic and LT is a far better option than Jahvid Bust!

For receiver, DeSean Jackson can’t be benched and I think that Brandon Marshall, off a huge game last week, could do well for you.

No shame in Garcon or Bowe!

Dave B

D G,

Ugh on the RBs. My choice would have to be Westbrook. He was good when Troy Smith was the starter and I think he gives you the best chance to score!

Boss at Tight End – he also has the best chance to score.

Dave B

Chris,

If you start Gerrard over Brees, you should be expelled from your league!

Rice is your running back for sure!

WRs in this order – Fitzgerald, Colston, Bowe, Ochoconco, Crabtree

I love the Eagles D this week as well.

Good Luck!

Dave B

Peter A,

For WRs, I have a “never bench your studs” philosophy. Go with Boldin for sure. I also like Moss and Branch to score this week. Moore is a risk, Armstrong is unproven.

Mason is a close third in the list.

RBs – Benson is likely to get 30 touches this week – start him based on that and the fact he ran for 150 yards last week. Tolbert would be my 2nd choice – he wilkl find pay dirt in the sloppoy conditions in Cincinnati this week.

Dave B

Peter,

I would go with Anothy Armstrong as your receiver against a terrible Jax defense. For flex, I am leaning Donald brown. Not only will he get 15-20 touches out of the backfield, he will likely carch 4-6 passes for 30-50 yards!

Dave B

David,

VJax is automatic. I also like Torain this week – not a whole lot but I think he scores. He may catch a few passes out of the backfield as well.

Dave B

i can only start 2 rbs but i have about 6 on my squad…which would be my best 2 options. hillis, mcfadden, mccoy, woodhead, bradshaw, and hightower.

thanks
