If you find yourself deep in your Fantasy draft, thin on position players, fear not! There will be some good value later on as demonstrated by Dave B’s Fantasy Sleepers. Some of these players might start immediately for your Fantasy squad while some may be on your bench until they can establish themselves later in the season.

Sleepers are important – Fantasy depth is crucial, so take note of the names on the list and good luck in your Fantasy drafts!

Quarterbacks

Chad Henne – Miami – Henne was good last season with Ted Ginn, Greg Camarillo and Devone Bess. Brandon Marshall significantly upgrades the Miami offense making Henne worth a look. I’m not saying that he’s a fantasy starter right away, but he could prove to be a valuable QB2. Henne passed for over 300 yards in 3 of his last 5 games.

Matt Moore – Carolina – Matt Moore looked bonafide last season and should benefit from his starter status. Jimmy Clausen should push Moore and the amazing running game should keep the defences honest. He went 4-1 as a starter last year with wins over the Vikings, Giants and Saints.

Matt Leinart – Arizona – He may be a Fantasy stretch but Leinart still has some quality weapons around him. Add in the fact that he has a great pass catching running back (Tim Hightower) and Leinart may just surprise.

Running Backs

LeSean McCoy – Philadelphia – He’s not that much of a sleeper but McCoy appears to be sliding down draft boards. If you have drafted a QB and WR in the 1st couple of rounds, McCoy could be sitting there in the third or maybe fourth round for you! He’s the unquestioned #1 in Philadelphia and should be valuable in Points per Reception leagues as well.

Jahvid Best – Detroit – Best was drafted as a difference maker and with Detroit team bound to take a step forward this season, Best has a chance to succeed. Kevin Smith isn’t quite healthy yet, leaving the dynamic Best to shoulder the load.

Matt Forte – Chicago – Before you start smacking your computer, consider what new Offensive Coordinator has done for running backs in the past. Marshall Faulk, Steven Jackson and to some extent Kevin Smith in Detroit were all huge parts of their respective offenses. With a Martz game plan in place, Forte will have some room to roam and he should be able to get back to being an elite pass catching back this season. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Cadillac Williams – Tampa Bay – Williams was OK last year but will really benefit from an off season without knee surgery. He may be the best player on a bad team.

Ryan Matthews – San Diego – He will be the primary back on a very good offensive team. Coach Norv Turner hopes for 250-300 touches for Matthews.

Leon Washington – Seattle – He produced 8 touchdowns and 903 yards in 2008 in a part time role. He’s healthy and explosive and should be Seattle’s best RB option.

Others to monitor: Donald Brown –  Indianapolis, Michael Bush – Oakland, Justin Forsett – Seattle

Wide Receivers

Mike Wallace – Pittsburgh – Somebody has to pick up the slack for departed Santonio Homes. He showed flashes last season and is now an unquestioned starter opposite Hines Ward.

Malcolm Floyd – San Diego – He will be the primary target for Philip Rivers for the first three weeks of the season at very least. With Vincent Jackson threatening to hold out for the season, he could be the go-to-guy all season long.

Lee Evans – Buffalo – He is the only real receiving threat on the Bills. He has all the talent in the world but now needs to put it all together. He knows that he has to step up this season and I think that he will.

Jeremy Maclin – Philadelphia – Maclin had a good rookie year and is now ready to take the next step. Kevin Kolb likes this guy – he could be a fantasy steal.

Devin Aromashodu – Chicago – He was an absolute stud at the end of last season. In his last four games, he was targeted 10 times per game, had 24 catches, 298 yards and 4 touchdowns. He should be as good or better under Mike Martz.

Chaz Schilens – Oakland – He’s the best option on the Raiders. With Jason Campbell throwing him the ball, his numbers will surely be better than last season.

Others to Monitor: Eddie Royal –  Denver, Early Doucet – Arizona, Arrelious Benn – Tampa Bay, Taylor Price – New England, Golden Tate – Seattle, Johnny Knox – Chicago

Tight Ends

Brandon Pettigrew – Detroit – Pettigrew was on his way to fantasy relevance last season before injury. The Lions offense is emerging and Pettigrew figures to be a part of the growth process.

Zach Miller – Oakland He had a good season with JaMarcus Russell at the helm last season. New quarterback Jason Campbell isn’t scared to use his tight ends – look at the numbers of Chris Cooley and Fred Davis in Washington the past few seasons.

Jimmy Graham – New Orleans – Jeremy Shockey is injury prone and Graham was brought in as the heir apparent. Look for him to be starting sooner than later in what is one of the most dominant offenses in the NFL.

I really like Mike Wallace and Chad Henne for good draft value. Not so sure about Matt Moore and Leon Washington though. I think they will both underperform.

I don’t understand this…in one article you have Lee Evans as a “Player To Avoid” and in this article he is a sleeper. Which is it? I like Evans as a #3 because he does have the potential to put up #2 stats at a #3 price. At any rate, I appreciate the articles…some good info to consider for 2010.

P.S. I pulled the #10 pick in a 14 teamer PPR Flex league…anybody have a strategy to recommend? I can use all the advice I can get…

Thanks

thanks hip – I know that i had evans as a player to avoid but when looking for a sleeper, i looked at average draft position.

if you can get evans in the middle to late rounds, it is decent value. he is the only threat in the bills receiving corp. and could emerge. he’s still a #1 receiver

stay away from evans in the 4th-6th round – that’s all

I am wondering what your thoughts on Rashard Mendenhall this year. He seems to of started performing well last year? Some of your sleepers seem to be my picks, yet some are new to me.
