This week they take on one of the teams that is right on their heels in Eastern Conference, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ivor Wynn. Hamilton is playing pretty well at the moment while the Bombers have struggled in their last five games overall.
Winnipeg started the season 7-1 and looked like a lock to gain a bye in the first round of the CFL playoffs but two straight losses and four losses in five games has them looking over their shoulders at Hamilton and the Montreal Alouettes.
It appears as though Alex Brink will be thrust into action once again for Buck Pierce who is in danger of missing his second straight game. Brink played well last week in a loss to Montreal but he is certainly a downgrade over Buck Pierce. Winnipeg has played very well on the road this season going 4-2 SU and ATS so far this year. At least the Bombers can count on a defense that has been terrific this season. They are best in the CFL in total defense giving up 304.4 yards per game and are second in points allowed with just 23.8.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have been creeping up in the standings somehow. Kevin Glenn has been just average over the last five weeks in particular. He has thrown for multiple touchdowns just once over that span and he has been throwing interceptions at an alarming rate. Hamilton will lean on the league’s second leading rusher Avon Cobourne and his 788 yards so far. He has been a standout and will need to solve Winnipeg’s tremendous defense in order for the Cats to have a chance.
Betting Prediction: The Bombers have been good on the road this season but the Cats have been equally good at home going 4-2 SU and ATS so far. I like Hamilton to make things tighter in the Eastern Conference with a victory on Friday night. Winnipeg has lost four of five games and has not given any reason that bettors should back them.
