CFL Betting – Week 2 Toronto Argonauts vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers Predictions

Two surprise Week 1 winners square off in Winnipeg on Friday night to kick off Week 2 of the CFL season. Both teams used methodical offensive approaches and solid defense to earn the “W” and the same should hold true on Friday night.

The Toronto Argonauts are who we thought that they would be. Cleo Lemon passed for a typically below average 187 yards in Week 1 and Corey Boyd emerged as the offensive star as he rushed for 100 yards in the win. You can expect much of the same – Boyd should be able to keep his team on the field, Lemon will be solid but unspectacular and the Argo defense should have a good night against a Bombers team that didn’t generate a whole lot against Hamilton last week.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will look to ride a spectacular defensive performance to yet another win on Friday night –four interceptions paved the way for their opening week win against the Tiger Cats. Buck Pierce went just 12 for 26 and 151 yards in Week 1 showing that he is not quite up to par quite yet. Fred Reid had an OK game rumbling for 87 yards in the win. [ad-4437448]

But it will be the defense once again that will determine whether or not the Bombers claim victory at home on Friday night. Sure the offense is talented but they really looked out of sync in Week 1.

Free CFL Betting Prediction:

Offense will be difficult to come by – the running games could do some damage but the quarterbacks in the contest really leave something to be desired. Toronto had Winnipeg’s number last year winning all three contests SU and ATS – I expect the same to continue.

Although Cleo Lemon registered a brutal 65.5 QB rating against Winnipeg last season, with just two touchdowns in three games, the Argos have shown that Special Teams and a running game are enough to propel them to victories.

Truth be told, I have little faith in Winnipeg despite their win last week.

CFL Pick:

Toronto Argonauts +1.5 and the Under – 48 points
Week 2 Parlay with Calgary Stampeders +2

Also this week in CFL action. The last time the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders met it was in the 2010 Grey Cup. Now in Week 2 of the 2011 CFL campaign, the Roughriders will look to avenge the loss that cost them the championship. The Roughriders were underdogs then and they’re underdogs now with just 8/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup. Can the Alouettes (9/4 odds) show why they’re the odds-on favorite to win yet again?
